Buying a puppy is important and not easy.

It would seem that it"s easier to browse through a few sites about the breed, choose your favorite face and bring your shaggy happiness home! But then suddenly it turns out that in the photo - or the wrong puppy, or not those parents.

And it"s not that breed at all. Familiar?

And what does someone who wants to buy a really high quality, healthy puppy that fully meets the standard of the breed? I will allow myself to give literally ten tips, which in due time helped a lot of people.

  • RULE one: Get a puppy from a well-established breeder or a famous kennel. It is much better if the kennel that you choose, will be known for breeding one, or at most, two related breeds! "Multistage", where dogs of three, four or more breeds are kept and bred, are not welcome anywhere. Because everyone knows that it is impossible to successfully breed several breeds at once, and the breeder will always have one, favorite, priority breed! So choose at once that kennel where the main breed - Pembroke!
  • RULES second: when choosing a puppy"s parents, pay attention to how the parents are kept, their health and lifestyle, the type of puppy breeding (apartment, country breeding), on the exterior (external data) of the parents. Don't brush off when the breeder offers you to see your puppy"s exhibition diplomas. In fact, exhibition dogs are almost guaranteed to be dogs with a wonderful character, proper appearance, and excellent health. And always well-groomed - otherwise no one will give them high titles. Thus, the chance to get a good puppy is much greater if the parents are exhibition champions.
  • RULE three: Buy a puppy from a quality, preferably famous bitch. A puppy is likely to look more like a mother, as the bitch inherits up to 80% of her data, both good and bad. And only 20% is given to the male father. When choosing a puppy, special attention should be paid to his behavior. A puppy should be funny and intrusive! The baby should act like he"s saying, "Buy me, look how good I am! A good puppy isn't afraid of outstretched arms, he"s a curious explorer, he"s interested and excited about everything. The age at which breeders are allowed to start selling is 45 days (1. 5 months). But if the litter is recommended for you as particularly valuable, I advise you to choose a puppy in advance and leave the breeder a deposit for him.
  • RULE four: A puppy for sale has a Puppy Card and a veteran"s passport. The Puppy Card must contain the details of the organization to which the puppy"s breeder/kennel belongs. In our case, it is the Russian Cynological Federation (RKF), and the name of the kennel where you buy a puppy. The belonging of the kennel to RKF-FCI can be checked on the website of FCI.
  • RULE Five: Choose those breeders who feed puppies with quality food, not porridge. Old dog breeders used to say, "The breed comes through the mouth! If we"re talking about feeding ready-made food, please note what kind of food the puppies are being fed! Now there are a lot of different quality foods on the market. A breeder can buy food from a neighboring supermarket to save money, which is tantamount to a McDonald"s lunch. Or it can raise puppies with expensive, professional food. Believe me, the difference at the exit is huge! Remember: a breeder who saves on puppy food saves on their health.
  • RULE Six: Be prepared for the high cost of a puppy. The better the puppy"s parents are, the higher his price can be. A good puppy can't be cheap! Conversely, if you're offered a puppy that"s much cheaper than the average cost of a puppy of this breed, think about the reasons for this kind of "generosity".
  • RULE seven: A kennel that"s worth buying a dog should have a herd of good bitches. It"s easy to track through the exhibition reports. In order for you to be able to buy a puppy of the type you want, the kennel must work with the breed for more than a year and have its own "face". So, the kennel you choose should have a good breed of its own - only if you meet these conditions do you also have a chance to buy a dog of your type.
  • RULE eight: make sure that the puppy you like is the result of a systematic selection, not the fruit of a "random", "decorated" knitting.
  • RULE nine: owners of quality dogs are happy to showcase them at exhibitions and shows. Therefore, the name of the famous kennel is constantly found in the lists of exhibition catalogues. The more dogs with the prefix kennel are found in the lists, ratings, and magazines about the breed, the more serious the work is being done. Of course, we should not forget about the results: a good nursery not only participates in competitions but also wins them!
