Continuation...
The pigeon nodded shyly and followed Alice outside. It's strange that at the end of May it got so cold, but nothing can be done. Such weather is fickle. And the forecasters said that all May and June would be shining and delighted only with the clear sun and clear sky. Almost the same thing happened a month ago, when they only said about the rains, and in the end, there was sun and warmth. It was even a shame that there was no exact forecast for the whole year to be ready for every day.
It took a little more than an hour to go. And besides, Pigeon stumbled at almost every step and almost fell on hard and wet asphalt. It's scary to think if a fragile girl, like a thin glass, slipped and slammed. But Alice tried to protect herself from such terrible thoughts, seeing that by a miracle, Pigeon found balance again and continued to walk, losing him again. It was evident that she was used to walking like that. But it looked strange, to put it mildly.
So they went where Alice didn't go. Everywhere there were abandoned old houses where nobody lived. Against the background of a cloudy sky, the street seemed dark and lifeless. Each step was echoed with a long echo, which made passers-by uncomfortable, and they tried to get out of this damn place right away. Everyone at home was dull and ripped off.
- Here comes the Dog,- Golubka slammed her hands, rejoicing that she had fulfilled her mission safely.
Silhouette Dog stood and waited near the most distant house. But when she got closer, Alice saw him as a skinny boy, about seventeen years old. He was very tall and skinny, and his dirty and tangled hair was hanging over his eyes. The dog thought it unnecessary to raise his head to look into the eyes of the guest, and mumbled, looking at the wet and dirty asphalt:
- What do you hear?
Alice knew at once that they were addressing her. Goosebumps jumped on the skin from such an unexpected and a little rough question. What does he hear? Nothing! This street was so deserted and damp that the girl wanted to just run away to her cozy and dry apartment, lock herself in and continue to die of boredom! But taking it easy, Alice still listened. Nothing but drops on the ground and their echoes across the empty street... But what if this is the answer to the question? After all, today Alice thought about the melody of drops, but here it sounded more rhythmic and melodic.
- It sounds silly, but I'm the one who hears the beating of droplets that fall to the ground and make music,- Alice said, realizing she was getting scarier and scarier every second.
A sneaky smile came out of under Dog's hair. Does this mean he liked the answer? Or does that mean he's just laughing at the stupidity of the answer?
- I'm sorry - Dog's tone has become more peaceful - just a long time ago a friend told me about this riddle. I, for the sake of curiosity, began to ask her all. And since, as you can see, I have developed a habit.
With his right hand, the boy moved his bangs from his eyes, raising his head. Now Alice could see his eyes clearly. Gray, faded eyes were not looking at Alice, but through her, as if seeing her inner world. The look wasn't as cocky and mocking as most teenagers did, but calm and wise.
There was an awkward pause. The pigeon changed from foot to foot, waiting for the dialogue to continue, and the dog looked at Alice. The girl immediately realized that she had to say something. But what? Now she is faced with someone who can answer her questions about the world of magic, she has been waiting for it all her life! And now that that moment had come, Alice couldn't squeeze a word out of herself. Where would it be more appropriate to start a conversation? And suddenly Alice thought of an idea.
- And what magic do you have? - She started it. - I understand that the question is stupid, but in addition to turning into animals, you also have to it ... How to put it correctly... Addendum, yes? A cat, for example, has time travel.
The dog translated his gaze into the pigeon, which was clearly stunned by these words. For her it was a complete surprise.
- Did the dove or the cat tell you? - answered the question with a question from the dog.
Alice smiled. She was waiting for this very reaction. Let her know that although she is a high school student, she can notice the smallest details.
