Unlimited freedom. Or the Alternative History of Ian and Leela. Part 7.

Lunch is over now, and I was doing my homework in my room. Ian should be here in an hour, but it seemed too long to me. About 15 minutes later, I did my homework and was looking for something to do now. I was walking around the house looking for something to do. In the course of the case, I'll put a cushion on the flat side, or I'll clean up the newspaper my dad left behind, or something else I was cleaning up. Then I went to the garden, stayed there for a while and went to the house. As soon as I started climbing the stairs, I heard the noise of a car pull up and went outside. My mood was a little upbeat. I knew it was Ian, though he used to come, not come.

-Hi! Did you drive? - I told Ian as soon as he got out of the car.

-Hi! Yes. I think you wouldn't mind if we went a little further with my family today.

-Of course. Only I will warn my parents.

-I'm waiting.

I warned my parents and came back. And then got in the car, and we left, but we didn't go home to Ian. It was a completely different road. I hadn't gone down that road yet.

-Where do we eat? - I asked.

-This place is at the foot of the mountains, not far from here.

-I see. And for what purpose?

-Later you will know.

-Okay..." I was doomed to say.

We drove and drove, going further and further into the forest. With each kilometer, my curiosity increased. I needed a distraction. But for what? I started looking around at trees, shrubs, and everything along the road, but I wasn't good at it because Ian was driving so fast that it was very hard to see anything at all. I started looking for another object to observe. Eventually, I stopped at Ian. I started to look at his face, neck, and hands. He looked strictly forward, not moving, and seemed not to even breathe. About five to ten minutes later, we stopped at the edge of the road, which was already barely visible. We got out of the car.

-Remember when I blindfolded you yesterday and carried you in my arms?

-Of course, I did.

-Could you close your eyes now and not open your eyes until I say so?

-Okay. - I said I closed my eyes right away. And Ian, as well as last time, picked me up. I pressed against him, and it was as if we were flying again. I was curious as to why I had this feeling of flying. I decided to open my eyes a little so Ian wouldn't notice. As soon as I opened my eyes, my mind just refused to accept what was happening. I wasn't far from the ground, and Ian was running, carrying me in his arms, but he was running so fast that it was impossible to make out everything around him. He ran faster than a car! Mystic! It's too much for my head! I closed my eyes. After a very short time, Ian put me on the ground. I got up, but suddenly my head was a little dizzy and I swayed backward. Ian supported me so I wouldn't fall. His whole family was standing around.

-Ian, couldn't you be more careful? - Nelly said.

-I'm sorry, Leela, but I forgot that some people aren't good at speed. - With a smile, Ian said.

-What does that mean for some people? - I finally asked them to step away from... I don't even know what to call it.

-That's what we wanted to talk to you about. - Mike came to me. - Ian convinced us that you were ready for this, of course, maybe not quite, but we'd try to be more delicate.

I didn't understand what was going on.

-Lila, when I drove you home yesterday, you assumed something about Erica and all of us.

-So what?

-You asked if you were right.

-Well, you said you were almost there, but what was it all about?

-So you were right about one of your assumptions.

-And where was that? - Already with ridicule, I said.

-We are vampires, Leela. - Carl said.

-Are you kidding me? - Almost laughing, I said.

-Not at all. - Mike said.

-But that's impossible!

-But you've managed to guess that. - Erica said.

-I didn't think it would be true. - I was bewildered.

-That's right. We'll try to prove it to you.

-How?

-You see, Leela, vampires have some superpowers.

-One of those superpowers you saw with your own eyes today in the woods.

-But...how did you know...

-What were you opening your eyes for? - Ian interrupted me.

-Yes..." I said, "I didn't understand anything anymore, I almost whispered.

-You know, our feelings are all heightened. We hear better, see, we can move hundreds of times faster than people, we are very strong. - Carl said.

-But we also have our own talents. - Erica said. - I have a talent for writing poems, songs, on any subject and in a very short time. The song that Julie sang yesterday, I wrote in half a minute.

-There's no way..." I said quietly.

-As much as possible!" Carl said.

-And what talent do the others have? - I asked.

-Nellie can grow a tree in a minute that has been growing in the natural world for hundreds of years. - Carl answered again.

-I raised lilies near my house just before you arrived. - Nelly said I saw a beautiful lily grow right in front of me.

I shook back a little, and Ian told me to sit down on the grass, and the rest of us sat down, probably to make it more comfortable.
