The Republic of Guinea is primarily attracting visitors with its picturesque, elevated Fouta Djallon landscape, an excellent African road network (especially in the southeast) and an impressive contrast between the dry northern valleys and the endless jungles of the southern regions.
- The center of Conakry is modern and is a complex of office and banking buildings between Rue du Niguère and the Ave de la República. The National Museum has a large collection of masks, sculptures, and national instruments, housed in a spacious exhibition of the building in the style of the Louvre de Paris. Opposite the Presidential Palace (formerly the OAU office), there are some 50 Moorish style villas currently used as offices by several international organizations. The huge People's Palace in the northern part of Rue du Nieger is the venue of traditional performances of two local ballet theatres and the venue of numerous festive ceremonies.
10 km away from the capital is the Ile de Los, a group of small islands in the Atlantic Ocean, a favourite resort area of Conakry's residents and guests, with a very modern water centre and regular mini-cruises by boat to the picturesque beach in Novotel district, and just a good place to spend the weekend.
Futa Jallon Plateau is one of the main natural attractions of the country, along with the Bafar waterfall and the rapids of Fujama. Located 220 km northeast of the capital and connected to it by a good road, it attracts thousands of tourists with its emerald green vegetation covering picturesque hills (up to 1000 m), the relative coolness of the local climate, charming villages with friendly residents and very good quality local cuisine. Dalaba is a former colonial mountain climate resort with the health center D`Asyuel, Mali - the coolest city in the country, a local trekking center (especially the popular city of D`Asyuel, Mali). Tage (Loura) - 1538 m, Cavendou - 1421 m and the legendary La Dam de Mali) and Kinkon Falls.
Labe is the third-largest city in the country, with excellent markets and small cozy streets and squares that allow you to observe the life and customs of the Fulani peoples in the region.
Located 420 km east of the capital, Farana is famous for its restaurants and cafes with excellent cuisine, a beautiful local mosque and numerous Victorian and classical villas. Every Monday there is a big fair in the city (in the opinion of a European - just a huge market), which brings together almost all the artisans and peasants from all over the neighborhood. Faran is the starting point for almost all tourist routes down the Joliba River (Niger) to the picturesque rapids of Fuyama and Bafara Falls.
Kankan is the spiritual and political center of the Malinke people. Built back in the medieval times of the Malian Empire, the city is filled with a variety of historical sites, but to see them, you will need the services of a local guide - so "merged" over the centuries, old and new, that inexperienced glance is difficult to distinguish the place where history ends and modern life begins. A local relic, the magnificently ornamented Grand Mosque, the Presidential Palace on the banks of the Milo River, sculpture workshops and two markets, open and closed, require special study.
Halfway from Boff to Boca, Cape Verga is one of the best beach areas in the country, completely deserted throughout the week, and over the weekend it becomes a bustling, vibrant resort town.
Nzerekore on the border with Liberia is the "capital of the forest country" (and smugglers), the cheapest city in Guinea and the starting point for ecological excursions to the forest area, famous for its inhabitants - forest elephants, numerous primates, and it is also one of the few places in Africa where you can still meet a forest leopard. The local market is considered to be the largest transshipment base for goods from neighboring countries, so you can buy almost everything at a modest price.
Fishing
The Bijaga archipelago remains one of the most reliable areas of tropical fishing for many fishermen who have visited this paradise at least once. Its main advantages are a variety of technical coastal fishing and a huge selection of tropical fish.
Season: during the dry season from October to May.
Fishing equipment: Surfing, spinning, fly, small raving, deep fishing, 3 open boats 5.5 m long, equipped with motors from 40 to 85 hp.
Fish: carcasses, red carp, barracuda, rays, sharks, cobia, elopes, poured out, and in addition to them tarpon mainly from February to May.
