- He doesn't want to have dinner with him... I would have had dinner with Legolas, had a little bit of an affair with my son!

Thranduil was silent, but his brother-in-law wasn't far behind.

- Listen, do you keep avoiding your son? The boy needs your attention!

The king tilted his head and spoke in a quiet, colorless voice:

- I pay attention to my son. I try to make sure he has the best of everything. All his wishes are fulfilled as far as possible. I choose the best teachers and masters for him...

- You're an idiot, aren't you? - Lorinor interrupted this list with disappointment. - Legolas does not need your services, but you! Understand, you finally! The child needs the warmth of his soul!

The king bowed his head even lower and mumbled stubbornly:

- The child wants to play with his mother, not with me!

- No, you are an idiot after all... - Ellerian's brother exhaled, and in his voice there sounded a hidden bitterness and inexhaustible deafness. He reached the jug, poured himself half a cup, and drank a salvo.

Thranduil raised his face and looked directly into the eyes of his parents. His cheeks were wet. He spoke with a broken voice:

- What are you explaining to me every time? Don't you think I understand? I keep telling myself that all the time. But I can't accept that she's gone! I can't, that's all! Too little time was given to us. It shouldn't be like that! This is wrong! - I dropped my head on my chest again and stopped talking by stone.

- Wrong... - Noldo echoed. - We live in a Distorted World, and the Distortion manifests itself constantly, in the most terrible and brutal forms. But you know, my brother, that Eldar has been given the hope of finding those who have left prematurely... We may not be here in many centuries, but we will be reunited with those we love... The leader of our kind is the living proof of it.

- I know about Glorfindel, but he is an exception. And the only thing, - said the Forest King in a whisper. Still, he was not noldo, and treated the idea of transformation with disbelief.

- Not the only thing. Other reborn ones remained in Valinor. I know very well that almost all the Nador's thoughts do not even allow for the Path to the West. They love their forests and want to stay in them forever. But the world around them is changing, whether they want that elf or not. Not yet soon, but there will come an era when the Nandor will have to cede its native forests to people and leave. And when Destiny comes, you will lose everything you loved here, but you will find Ellerian. In the meantime, you have to live in such a way that there is no shame in wasting your years. All the kvandis dream of correcting the Distortion, so you have to do it, though a little bit.

- And how? - Trandila involuntarily carried away this conversation.

- Yes, it is elementary. Try to do something good. Even if it's a small thing. For example, last summer I examined the north-western borders, decided to pass by the village of people who had recently grown up on the Anduin bank, to take a closer look. Well, I'm passing by. Suddenly I hear crying. I'm closer, maybe I need help. I see - at the outermost house near the fence, a little girl roaring in tears. I'm at her place, and I'm in intelligence, outside the forest, I'm wearing a spell of neglect. She does not see me. Here a woman ran out of the house, my mother probably picked up her daughter and back. I came to see what the girl was crying about. I can see that the flower is broken. Beautiful flower, you can see at once that in those places these are rare. Apparently, the little girl took care of her favorite - a fence made of sticks is made around it - Lorinor smiled tenderly. - I picked up a flower - it was broken at the root, apparently, the night thunderstorm tried, or the animal got hooked. But the stem is fresh at all. I connect the wreckage, I call for strength from the root. Then from the ground a little bit, from the air, from the sun ... I can see that the flowers will grow together, so it means that there will be a flower to live! Well, I'm more likely to go back until people noticed me, despite the spell.

- And then? - Thranduil was interested in looking at his parents. It's not a big deal, especially about people, and it's interesting...

- And what next? I drove on. Only suddenly I hear joyful screams from behind. I looked around - the girl jumps around her flower. It seemed like a trifle - could not pay attention, just pass by... But you know, my heart got lighter, lighter... If you'd heard how much joy there was in those screams... In fact, it's so easy - look around you, do something good, make some little miracle... And a pure note will fit into the healing tune of our beloved Arda... And if you dwell on your suffering, close yourself off from the whole world - nothing good will happen to you, neither to you from the world, nor to the world from you...

Probably, wise and sincerely loving brother Noldo could dispel the yearning of Trandil in due course, direct his life in another direction... But this conversation between the two friends was the last one.
