Days are getting shorter and temperatures are falling... autumn is a time of real change! In fact, what awaits us is not only the change of the wardrobe but also a variation of our skincare, which needs to be renewed season by season. Let's see how...

During the summer holidays, the skin has been subjected to strong stress and with the autumn and the arrival of temperatures the skin is again put to the test.

Each season has its own peculiarities, which affect the skin: it is therefore important to change the skincare in autumn, to avoid the emergence of stains, wrinkles and more obvious signs of expression.

In addition, we are now facing winter and cold (the real one!) so the skin must be protected properly.

Autumn beauty routine: exfoliate and moisturize.

Changing the skincare in autumn is a must, this is because it is a very special time of year because it is characterized by continuous changes in temperature.

If you have followed the advice to the letter during the summer to prepare your skin for the sun, probably, it will not yet be affected by the change of season. If, on the other hand, you have exposed yourself to the sun's rays without the right precautions, you will have noticed a drier and tighter skin.

There are basically two key words in the autumn beauty routine: exfoliate and moisturize!

In order for the skin to renew itself, it is necessary to remove dead cells from the surface, through exfoliation. However, we would like to give you a valuable piece of advice: in this period it is better to avoid scrubbing, preferring instead scrubbing if you have dry skin or peeling if your skin is mixed or oily. This is because the scrub performs a mechanical exfoliation but more delicate thanks to a moisturizing base; the peeling instead uses alpha and beta-hydroxy acids (such as glycolic acid) to speed up the exchange of epithelial cells.

Exfoliating the skin twice a week, at least for a month, is ideal for keeping your skin healthy.

After exfoliation, proceed to step 2: hydration. Deep hydration is ideal for better skin regeneration.

During this time of year it is best to choose beautiful full-bodied creams and combine them with a serum for a shock action.

Choosing the right serum depends very much on the type of skin you have:

dry skin: we recommend a serum rich in antioxidants (vitamin E and C) for greater radiance;

mixed or oily skin: it is better to opt for products based on plant extracts, thus limiting the expansion of the pores and the onset of pimples.

All this applies to both facial and body skin care. Let's focus on the face...

Facial skin care in autumn

As we have already mentioned, during the autumn it is better to abandon the light and fresh textures used in the summer and choose richer and more full-bodied formulations, capable of pampering the skin that is facing the first cold.

Exposure to the sun over the past few months may have slightly dried up the skin and the lowering of temperatures risks further drying it out, creating a dull and opaque effect to be fought with an autumnal beauty routine designed specifically.

To do what we have promised it is essential to start with a thorough cleansing of the face: scrub or scrub (depending on what you prefer) frees the skin from impurities and dead cells, making it immediately brighter and ready to receive subsequent treatments.

In autumn it is also essential to make, from time to time, a moisturizing and nourishing mask. There are various types of masks, you can choose between those in fabric or total green (also made at home) as long as they are nutritious and rich in elements useful to the skin.

Finally, with the change of season, the choice of night and day creams must be accurate: if the skin is dry; the green light to nourish with rich and melting textures; if it is oily, it is better to turn to a super moisturizer.

The diet that is good for the skin

As we learned from the MJ blog articles, changing the diet according to the season is good for the body and also for the skin.

Each season has its own foods and some are particularly suitable for having a radiant and toned skin. For autumn it is good to choose:

Fruits rich in vitamins (especially A, C and E), lycopene and polyphenols such as pumpkin, pomegranate and blueberries:

Vegetables: Brussels sprouts and asparagus.
