1. After Life - Tony lost the most precious thing he had - his beloved wife Lisa (died of cancer). After her death, Tony tried to get his hands on himself, but each time he was stopped from taking the last step...by a dog. Runs in, start bark, looks into his eyes faithfully, wags his tail. It is inconvenient to cut the veins (drowning, hanging, poisoning, etc.) when you are distracted. That's why Tony has to put off his "life scores" every time because the tummy needs to be fed and walked. "I would have killed myself long ago if you could open food cans with your paws.
The untimely death of his wife, as if "sucked" a good guy out of Tony.
"I do what I want, I say what I want, and I don't give a fuck whether someone likes it or not. And he behaves "just immoral. Hamit, swears, spits on the rules and conventions, "pushes away" relatives and friends, constantly runs into trouble)".
Every day Tony is like the previous day - in the morning to walk with a dog, a session with a psychotherapist, visit his father's boarding house (he has Alzheimer's disease) and go to the editorial office of the local newspaper "sensations", where he actually works.
English comedian Ricky Jervais (Derek) invented this project for himself. He is a producer, director, screenwriter, and main character. Yes, as they say - "our (or rather them) shot everywhere in time.
Somehow strangely, Tony's story, without the beginning and with a fat point in the final, turned out to be so touching and sentimental that "unwittingly a tear asks for", although there is also plenty of room for "laughter".
A talented man, talented in everything. A brilliant scenario is half the success of the film. However, and then Ricky Jervais did not pump up. Suggested the role of excellent actors, and then removed all this, as he considered necessary, that is, cool).
Pay attention to the subtle nuance. During the six episodes of the series weather "outdoors" is just magical (and that's in England). As if nature itself says to Tony: "Look around you, man, life goes on, and it's beautiful.
After life - a very soulful mini-series in the best traditions of black English comedy.
2. Dead to Me - Jan Harding's husband tragically died. He was hit by a car and the driver fled the scene, leaving a wounded man to die by the side of the road. It's bad enough for Jen to deal with the loss, and she's starting to go to group therapy, where she meets recently widowed Judy Hale.
Women have a lot in common, and casual acquaintance quietly turns into something desperately similar to friendship.
But what Jen wants most is to find the creature who was driving the car the night her husband died. However, the police are powerlessly "spreading their hands" - all traces and prints were washed away by the rain, there are no video surveillance cameras on that stretch of road, no evidence, no witnesses, nothing. The case hangs with a dead weight.
Jen wasn't one of those who surrendered, especially now she wasn't alone. Judy's new girlfriend actively assists her in her search for the culprit in the accident. The two of them will probably figure it out.
I must admit, the show didn't start at all. The pilot series, soaked in excessive drama, lamenting, weeping, sobbing, scolding, and a very large number of empty talk about nothing, has never intrigued. Even the appearance on the screen of handsome James Marsden (World of the Wild West), couldn't get me to watch the second episode. Everything was decided literally by the pilot's last-minute - here I was extremely curious.
Further the story slowly begins to swing, but strange things do not become less. You do not leave the obsessive feeling that someone is about to blow up this calm "swamp", and the plot will go with the patchwork. The clock ticks, the series goes on, and while you were "waiting for the explosion," it's already "late to rush" - now you just have to find out what's wrong with this Judy.
Duo Jen, she is the actress Christine Applegate (Who is Samantha?), and Judy, in the world - Linda Cardellini (Green Book), turned out to be very well-coordinated.
Jen is tough, rough, explosive, straightforward. They say about them - "don't put your finger in your mouth - your elbow will pull your hand off".
On the contrary, Judy, on the contrary, is open, tries to please everybody, fusses a lot and obviously has a big "skeleton in the cloak". Not a lady, but something in between a good fairy and a maniac.
Actresses are coped well. On their fragile shoulders, in fact, and is based on the whole story, if they had shuffled at least one frame - a comedy immediately turned into a cheap farce.
The series Dead to me is very ambiguous. Funny, sometimes clumsy and ridiculous, slightly dragged, sometimes even tedious, but at the same time vital, human and... It drags you out.
3. The Kominsky Method is a slow story about the actor Sandy Kominsky's longstanding friendship with his agent Norman Newlander.
If I say that: the script was written by Chuck Laurie (Big Bang Theory); the main roles were played by Oscar-winning Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin.
The series received two "Golden Globe" ... makes sense to paint all the charms of the series?)
It seems to me, and so everything is clear. It is unlikely that in their old age, these respected uncles agreed to take part in some nonsensical shit. Why shame gray hair? In my opinion, they have everything in chocolate).
You watch Cominsky's Method, and you think, "Oh, old age is not a joy. And on the other hand, if you have a favorite job, a devoted friend and lover of life, can you get older not so badly?"
Many of my colleagues in the workshop picked at the end of the season, they know better. For the first time in a long time, I did not want to look for shortcomings. I just watched the show, enjoyed and admired it.
By the way, it was already officially extended for the second season.
