Equipping yourself with the most suitable cosmetic for you and a cotton pad and do your job: make-up removal is the part of the beauty routine that tells you how much you love yourself. Here's how to do it right

You're tired, it's late and you're thinking of going to sleep without removing make-up? Don't even think about it: eliminating all traces of eyeshadow, lipstick or mascara is essential because makeup and smog that are deposited on the face during the day prevent the skin from "breathing". And they cause premature aging!

Makeup at the end of the day is as simple as it is important for the well-being of the face and to have a fresh and bright skin, provided you know how to do it right. Here's a little guide.

Step by step guide for make-up removal

Makeup artists suggest starting with the lips, eliminating the lipstick, then moving on to the rest of the face and finally to the most delicate area, that of the eyes. End the cleansing with a softening tonic: during the 'de-make-up' phase the surface cells dehydrate and the tonic allows the rehydration of the tissues.

Here's how to do it:

First of all choose whether to proceed with a disc or a tissue removing the lipstick from the lips gently with the help of a cosmetic gentle cleanser.

After completely removing makeup from your mouth, proceed with the rest of your face, using the product that best suits your needs and being careful to make circular movements that go from the nose to the cheeks, then the forehead, chin and cheekbones: from the inside always outwards.

After that you can switch to the eyes, always taking great care to remove the makeup on both the upper and lower eyelids and eyelashes, to avoid waking up the next morning with a black halo right under your eyes. In case of small residues, you can complete the operation with a cotton swab soaked in micellar water.

To finish your evening beauty routine, apply your usual moisturizing cream and enjoy fresh, radiant skin.

Makeup Removal Products: Which one to choose?

The world of makeup removal products is very diverse and there are different products depending on your specific needs to meet the needs of all skin types, ages and habits. So which specific textures should you rely on?

  • Micellar water

A revolution in facial cleansing: with a single gesture it removes makeup and impurities from the face, eyes and lips. And in less than 2 minutes you are perfectly cleansed. And you don't need to rinse!

  • Milk and toner

First pass the cleansing milk, and then complete the operation with the toner. This step is essential to restore the pH of the skin and avoids having to rinse the face with water, which the most sensitive skin does not tolerate.

  • Makeup Removal Balm

The balm has a creamy and full-bodied texture and is indicated for dry skin: it replenishes hydrolipidic deficiencies.

  • Rinse-off detergents

Gels and mousses usually produce a lot of foam to remove makeup and impurities - perfect for combination and oily skin.

  • Makeup Removal Wipes

Makeup removal wipes are very practical and comfortable but they are not the ideal choice for everyday use because they dehydrate the skin, irritating the most sensitive skin: use them only when you can't do without them!

Is it possible to remove make-up without make-up remover?

Of course. You can use simple tricks to remove make-up naturally. Did you know that one of the most effective natural make-up remover is olive oil? It can dissolve makeup perfectly. It's simple chemistry: fat dissolves fat. Alternatively, you can also rely on linseed, almond, jojoba or argan oil.

Just a knob of oil on wet hands, emulsify and massage your dry face. Then gently wipe with a damp cloth - microfibre if possible (you can now find them in any store) - and remove any residue. Complete with the most classic rose water.

One tip: for the delicate eye area, dilute the oil with water to avoid irritation and swelling.

What if the makeup is waterproof?

The only solution for waterproof makeup is the biphasic make-up remover: it consists of an aqueous phase and an oily phase that activate each other by shaking the bottle: the aqueous part preserves skin hydration and the mixture of oils removes the makeup. The result? Skin that is not only deeply cleansed, but also soft and silky. It is practical, gentle (for the eye area) and emollient.

Here's how to do it: shake the bottle and mix the two "phases", then pour the product on a disc. Here the formula "splits" again: first pass the oily part, then turn the disc and pass it again. And that's it!
