A perm will help you to make a magnificent curly hair out of thin, smooth hair. However, chemistry affects the hair. And this effect is not beneficial.
What should I pay attention to?
Any permutation causes a permanent change in the hair structure. The old structure will be restored with the regrowth of new hair.
Therefore, you need to consider the following before chemical treatment:
- Since the curling technique must be adapted to the type and nature of the hair, as well as the style of your hair, please consult a good hairdresser beforehand.
- Think about which curls will suit you best - large or small curls, soft waves, or just puffy hair that holds shape well.
- If you have dry hair, give up the perm at all.
- If your hair is oily, do "chemistry" no more than twice a year.
What is the process of curling
Curl is performed in three stages, each of which requires great care:
- The curling chemistry penetrates the inside of the hair and opens the so-called sulfuric bridges. As a result, the hair becomes soft and supple.
- The softened body of the hair gradually takes on the form of a curler, the look, and shape of which determines the character of the curls. The thinner the rollers, the smaller the curls and the longer they last.
- After the chemical composition has finished, it must be washed off thoroughly. Then the curled but still soft hair should be fixed. During the fixation process, the sulphuric bridges, which were opened in the first stage, are closed and the hair is returned to its original strength.
Types of perm
- The alkaline perm is the most harmful and still popular because it is the most stable and cheapest perm. The effect lasts 4-6 months. Alkaline compositions for curling hair are necessary if you want to get steep and durable curls. After such a curl, the natural structure of the hair is disturbed, and chemicals destroy the scales that make up the outer layer of each hair. Hair loses its healthy appearance, becomes weak, brittle, dull and often split ends. For alkaline curling hair should be healthy and strong, weak hair such curling, of course, should not be subjected to such curling.
- Acid perm is softer because the active ingredient does not cause the hair to swell too much. But this perm doesn't last long (up to 3 months depending on the length of the hair). And on fine and soft hair instantly loses its properties.
- Neutral or biocurling is suitable for all hair types. It almost does not spoil the structure of the hair and allows you to achieve a natural look of curls. But it doesn't last long.
- Japanese curling has care components and according to the developers, it not only does not spoil the hair but also makes it healthier.
Proper hair care after curling
- Hair after "chemistry" becomes sensitive. Therefore, after washing, they should be carefully squeezed with a soft terry towel, without rubbing.
- Hair ends are particularly affected by perms. A special fluid, which is applied to the hair after washing and is not washed away, gently smoothes it out.
- For effective hair care, it is advisable to use a special softening balm, which has a light fixing effect.
Tips
- Hair should not be subject to both perm and dyeing at the same time. Experts advise first perm and only three weeks later - dyeing.
- If the hair has grown too long after the perm, you can do the perm at the root of the hair.
- Root curls are especially suitable if long hair needs to hold well and remain smooth at the same time.
- After a curl, hair needs special care: special shampoos, therapeutic wraps, and rinses.
- From home care products you can recommend such a hair shampoo: whip a small amount of water into an egg yolk. Apply the mixture to damp hair, then rinse with warm water and apply the formula again, also rinse with warm water. Egg yolk will help to restore the damaged structure of hair after a perm, will make them shiny and silky.
