EXCEED Starway (part 1)

The second model of Starway LX officially opened for pre-sale at this year's Chengdu Motor Show, with a pre-sale price of 12.79-15.59 million-plus a more impactful appearance, making it the "star second generation" that has attracted much attention.

This time, I test drive in Chengdu to the LX test car and carried out the site and actual road experience for this car.

And this test drive, I will conduct a deeper "analysis" of the Star LX. Take a look, after the actual experience, how is the product power of LX LX?

Let's take a brief look at some of the information about Star LX:

  • EXCEED Starway is Chery's new brand of intelligent, high-end and dynamic;
  • Starway LX is the second mass-produced SUV model of Starway, and the model is positioned as a compact SUV;
  • The new car is based on the Chery M3X platform;
  • Length * width * height (mm): 4533 * 1848 * 1699;
  • Wheelbase (mm): 2670;
  • The standard is equipped with a 1.6T turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox;
  • The maximum power is 145kW, the maximum torque is 290N·m, and the acceleration is 8.8s per 100km.

Traditional perspective: First Star Road LX is a "car"

Let's introduce the Star LX car from the most basic point of view.

From the design of the Star LX, it can be regarded as a "better" SUV model.

Compared to the main color of the official promotion, I think the gray car I tested is more eye-catching.

Starway LX does not use the "big" medium net design, and this semi-closed front face design is also rare in fuel vehicles.

The star-shaped LX that I tested was a two-color spliced ​​interior. The integrated large screen consisted of a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument and a central control panel.

Coupled with two partition air conditioning adjustment knobs, lever shifting to the touchpad design, the overall cockpit technology is still very strong.

The interior space of the car performed well. After the main driver was adjusted in my driving position, there were still two punches in the back leg.

Moreover, the bulge of the rear floor is not very high, and there is not much impact on the rear row of 3 people.

I was driving both on the site and on the actual road. I found that the 1.6T engine was quite powerful when driving in the "frequent" driving.

The maximum speed at the start was "protected" at 1700 pm. I still wanted to "snap" and try to speed up...

The 1.6T engine can provide 197 horsepower, and the 100km acceleration can enter 9 seconds. For such an SUV, the overall power performance is enough.

Smart cockpit

Speaking of the StarCraft LX's smart cockpit, it is not limited to two 12.3-inch screens, but the story and technology behind it is slightly "burning the brain."

In terms of software, the Star LX is equipped with the Lion 3.0 lion cloud system, with a variety of car networking features such as voice assistant, AR augmented reality navigation, car home interconnection, and FOTA upgrade. This system was created by Starway and Baidu, and deeply integrated with the small car OS

In terms of hardware, the development and integration of this smart cockpit include the cooperation of Starway, Neusoft and Intel. The Apollo Lake processor is provided by Intel as the "hardware foundation", and then Neusoft "software integration". Carry out "R&D, joint adjustment" and finally complete "Getting on the train".

  • Based on the Goldmont architecture and using Intel 14nm process technology;
  • 2–4 CPU cores;
  • 1.1–1.6GHz CPU HFM frequency;

  • 8GB of LPDDR4;
  • 6 USB 3.0 ports and 4 PCIe ports.

In terms of hardware and software, the StarCraft LX's smart cockpit runs on two different operating systems, the full LCD instrument runs on the Clear Linux system, and the central control touchscreen system is based on Android 9.0. Both systems are based on the Intel Apollo Lake processor and the ACRN virtual machine, where the ACRN virtual machine performs hardware sharing and system isolation for both systems.
