Land Rover introduced the new generation of Defender at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The site conquers the extremely steep slope of 42 degrees, and its new technological interior design combines the unique structure of the exhibited design with the advanced technology of the 21st century. He claims to be the strongest king of 4×4 in the history of the brand in the 21st century.
Since its creation in 1948, Defender has been a classic for 70 years, its rough image of the African desert and dirty mountains is deeply rooted in the hearts of people. In 2016, Defender was discontinued due to sales cuts and finally released the second generation of new models at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which opened on September 12.
The new Defender generation is extremely brilliant and refined. Thanks to a large number of new mechanical and digital technologies, the combat power of SUVs has not only decreased but also became more sophisticated. The appearance is largely preserved on the original square shape, and the rear end is still equipped with an external spare wheel and a side open rear door. However, the original rigid lines above the body of the car were replaced by rounded curves, and the headlights were replaced by a semicircular daytime running lamp. The top of the hood is marked by a plate with the name of the Defender model.
The new Defender generation has various power options, two of which are: a diesel engine with four turbocharged cylinders, gasoline with four 2.0 liter cylinders and an integrated six-cylinder gasoline engine that combines micro electric hybrid energy technology. In addition, hybrid electric vehicles with a plug-in module are expected to be launched in 2020.
The Defender chassis with a height-adjustable device provides greater off-road mobility while maintaining comfort in the rear seat. The entire vehicle is supplied as standard with all-wheel drive and as standard with a two-speed burner. In addition, the second-generation model is also equipped with the most powerful terrain response system Terrain Response, manual locking of the central differential and automatic locking of the rear differential. This time there are two wheelbases, Defender 110 and Defender 90. The LAND ROVER claims that the Defender 110 has a "world-class off-road geometry" with a 38-degree travel angle, a 28-degree intersection angle, and a 40-degree travel angle. Its ClearSight ground vision monitoring system controls the ground for off-road use. The Defender 110 is available in a 5- or 5+2-seat configuration, while the Defender 90 can hold up to six people and the rear bay can hold up to 1,075 liters. After the second row of seats is folded forward, the volume can be expanded to 2380 liters.
The new Defender interior, in addition to the fact that family members took the best materials of the highest quality to maintain the same tradition, the control interface is linked to a large number of technological elements, the central console is for the first time equipped with the latest infotainment system LAND ROVER PIVI Pro, with more intuitive operation and a friendly user interface, the central control is equipped with a 10 inch touch screen and has an image-based home menu that is easy to use and can reduce the floor. In addition, the Multimedia Central Control System also includes a broadcast function (OTA), which can automatically update 14 software groups in the central console and the vehicle at any time.
Of course, Defender hasn't forgotten about its expedition, its off-road features and offers as an option four personalized accessories, including an adventure set, an expedition set, a jungle set and a city set. In addition, an electric winch with remote control, a roof awning, and an inflatable waterproof awning, as well as personalized features such as roof racks, are available for the buyer in 170 variants of building his personal car.
Defender's premiere in Frankfurt was hosted by Kenton Koole, chief mountaineering expert at the top of Mount Everest, 14th degree, who drove the new Defender from Kazakhstan to launch an expedition plan to test his performance on the way and arrive in Frankfurt. Kenton Kool said he had the privilege of opening a new chapter in the history of the world's most iconic 4X4 and testing its performance limits. I believe that this expedition plan and the premiere in Frankfurt is just a small test for the Defender.
