Summer's a tough time for TV shows. Nothing to see; off-season - if it is not okay!
And for me, this is a great time to calmly review-try through the kilometer-long lists of "serials-on-the-ground", and there is sure to be a wonderful serial, to tell about which all the "hands-off".
It's the turn of "European detectives" notes, and there's so much "delicious".
I do not know how many parts will turn out, but get comfortable - there is no hurry when discussing European detectives.
- State of play - Stephen Collins, chairman of the Energy Committee, a member of the British Parliament, gets to work, strange as it may seem, by subway. At one of the stations on speakerphone announced that the train is delayed because of an accident, and on the tracks lies the body of a woman.
Finally, when he got to work, Stephen found out that the woman who died this morning was no one else but his secretary, Sonia Baker, with whom he had more than a purely business relationship.
Newspapers are trumpeting on every corner about Sonia's suicide, and only journalist Cal McCaffrey, and a good friend of Stephen Collis, does not believe in the suicide of a young, successful woman. He and his team are starting their own investigative journalism.
At the beginning of the investigation Cal could not even imagine how this "race for sensation" would turn out for him.
The pros.
Serial Big game - all the advantages.
First, a great scenario from Paul Abbott (shameless, no offense). Politics, detective, drama, melodrama - Paul "mixed everything in one bottle", and did it damn cool.
Second, the series is "instructed" to take off the director David Yates (later he will take off Harry Potter and fantastic creatures).
Third, the strongest cast. Charming John Simm (Partner), charismatic Bill Niyi (Real Love), handsome David Morrissey (Mind and Feelings), blue-eyed darling James McAvoy (X-Men), demonic Mark Warren (Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell), talented Debera Findley (Poirot) ...
And what else does the show need to stay relevant after fifteen years? A strong team and a cool scenario).
Minuses.
Problems with the sound; part of the dialogues without translation. In the network there is a "perezalivnyj" version of the series, where the missed parts go with subtitles. Although, with your hand on your heart, there is nothing archival in these excerpts, a simple household talk).
P.S. I think many people watched the 2009 Hollywood remake with Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck in the lead roles. So, the original is better).
Country: Great Britain.

Year: 2003.
Status: Season 1.
2.La treve - the after the death of the wife, Inspector John Peters and his daughter move to the small town of Hyderfeld, where John spent his childhood, in the hope of a quiet life that will help him and his daughter to reconcile with the loss.
But it wasn't here. Before the inspector could unpack and officially go to work, he had already been summoned to the scene of the crime.
A young boy, a local star of the football team, jumped off a bridge. One could believe that it was a suicide, if it wasn't for the multiple bruises and bruises on the victim's body.
Despite the fact that the chief of police insists on closing the case for lack of corpus delicti, John very doubts that the boy has voluntarily taken a step into the abyss ... someone obviously helped him with this.
The pros.
The leisurely development of the plot will seem boring to many people. But this is a certain charm of Belgian TV series. It is for such slowness and "weightlessness" fans appreciate them. Remember the series Tabula Rasa, the Beau Séjour Hotel, the Zone Blanche - all without rushing, the writers told us very interesting stories, and this story is no exception.
It wasn't so easy to understand who killed the boy for what. Isn't that the "power" of the detective?)
Minuses.
Explain to me, please, where in gingerbread Europe come from such "quiet whirlpools (Hyderfelds), in which the devils are found. This is not a town, but a collection of perverts). Only Satanists were not enough for a complete "picture of the world". Not a city, but a walking "classification of mental disorders").
3.Under suspicion (Bajo sospecha) - on a family holiday, on the occasion of the first communion of children, gathered a large, "friendly" Spanish family. After the festive part in the church, everyone moved to the family restaurant to celebrate such an important event in a close circle.
When it was time to take a family photo, all family members were reluctant to line up posing for the photographer, all but Alicia.
The search for the little prostitute did not bring any results. The girl is missing. But how?! The restaurant was closed to visitors on that day, the gate was locked, the fence was high, a stranger couldn't get into the territory unnoticed, only relatives were present at the festival.
The police have one version - the girl was kidnapped by a family member. But who and, most importantly, why?
In order to make progress, the Commissioner of Police decides to send two undercover police officers to the city. Detectives will pretend to be a happy couple. Their task: to get into the trust of the family and find the girl.
The pros.
Big family, it's manna heavenly for a detective - everything, absolutely everything, hiding something. Under suspicion, all the relatives from small to large.
Writers are great writers, until the last series keep the intrigue. I confess, to find out who is to blame, I personally, and it did not work out until the end. The end of the first season was a little upset, so sad and ridiculous ... but life in general is very capricious mamsel.
This time the Spaniards did not overdo it with emotion. Everything is perfectly played and filmed. A couple of detectives pleasantly pleased. Until recently, the correct inspector Cortez and slacker Victor Reyes.
I think this detective will like not only fans of Spanish cinema, but also "sympathizers").
Minuses.
If you cover your eyes on a couple of gawks, then, in general, there is nothing to pick on.
The second season is noticeably inferior to the first one (Victor's handsome man wasn't enough for spice), but quite lookable.
