The fishing action is equal to the bottom, so, as above, I do not describe it. I only remember that after the launch you have to put the wire in tension and operate the release of the coil (or, if you do not have it, open the clutch to the maximum). When the "start" takes place (the carp eats and leaves), in the first case a turn of the crank is enough to reinsert the normal clutch, otherwise you lock the coil with a finger. In all 2 cases, just done this, ferrate immediately!
Then, if you do not have the baitrunner quickly set the clutch (in a coarse way, however under the breaking load of the wire). It is easier to do than to describe: the whole maneuver, even in the worst case, lasts no more than a few seconds. As usual the experience will help you, and do not worry if the first few times you will lose some fish because it is understandable.
Take it with philosophy: I too learned more from mistakes and lost fish than from those caught. No one will laugh at you, on the contrary: if you are a beginner most likely the most experienced fishermen around you will help you. As is known the “body spirit” of the carpists is phenomenal and a colleague in trouble is never left alone. The first releases try to do them with some friends more experienced in the technique (if you do not have any, just simply search on the internet in a forum or a site on the subject and find as many as you want, of your area, just ask :).
How to handle fish
I deliberately talk about fish, because everything you will take, not only carp and not only with this technique, deserves the utmost respect from us. A few tips: before you start fishing look for a place where you can wade the fish without injuring it. The mat and the landing net in summer should be kept in the shade and cool, so as not to burn the fish. If you do not know how to do this, at regular intervals immerse the net of the landing net in water, try to “pull up” as much water as possible and pour it on the landing net; for the first times get help from a friend.
Avoid unnecessary suffering to the fish, pull it up slamatelo and photograph it in the shortest possible time. In the mat, the fish should be kept on the side (not on the stomach), and never hold more than one fish per mat. If you want to hold it for photos be careful, take it well (almost for sure it will shake and may fall: avoid this happening!). After the photo, release quickly. For this stage, do not throw it like a rock, but gently slide it from the landing net to the water. They are a few simple rules, but I assure you they make a difference. The real fisherman is also seen by respect for nature and its fish.
One of the biggest problems is the choice of “measures” of equipment. I save the obvious considerations on telescopic rods or sections (obviously the second ones have better action, but they give transport problems), or on the length (usually you go around 12 feet – 3.60 meters).
For the very first attempts, you could use a heavy spinning rod, or better yet a medium heavy bottom; if you can, go out with a friend who practices this technique and try to use a specific rod, even if cheap: it is definitely better and will allow you to get familiar with the action. By the way: what I recommend is the “parabolic-progressive”, ideal for almost any occasion.
As you may have noticed, carpfishing rods are evaluated not as throwing power but as “test curves” or hovering. In short, it is the value that applied on the chimney with the horizontal barrel the bend of 90 degrees. On the market it goes from 2 to 5 pounds, and obviously the extreme measures have special uses (the 2 for fishing “ultra marginal", or with small fish; the 5 with pasturatori of type "spod “or“rocket").
The classic sizes range from 2 1/2 lbs to 3 1/2; personally to start I would recommend rods with 2 3/4 or a 3 lbs hover, they are fine for almost any occasion. As for the maximum throwing weight, going to spans you can say about 40 grams per pound; in doubt, better a few grams less. As a reel to start, if you do not catch at astronomical distances of 5000-6000 measuring models are fine. Later, by honing the technique you will understand what you need depending on your real needs.
A final tip
Even if the technique is called carpfishing, it is not uncommon for some other fish to attack, especially fishing with corn. Be that as it may, attach a carp, Tench, crucian carp or torpedo, if possible release everything with the utmost care and speed possible, even where it would be illegal. Today more than ever we need all our goodwill. If you really want to keep a fish to eat it is fine, as long as it is someone from time to time and above all is eaten and not killed unnecessarily and then thrown into the trash can, or thrown into a ditch.
Also, please do not make the mistake of many, who hold huge or tiny fish (the first are a monument of nature and deserve all our respect, also because they have taken years to get to their size; the others have to grow). Usually it is recommended from 1 to 3-4 kilograms at most. Finally, I ask you to spare also species such as Tench, now very rare in our waters. Personally I would advise to release everything, if it is not strictly necessary. I understand very well who wants to eat the fish he catches, because it is not a waste, but not who has refrigerators full of bags of fish thrown there, to "grow old".
As for the” allocated fish", it is not their fault but the man if they are here. There is no point in launching a cruel witch hunt, accusing the fish of what has caused human pollution and our society.
Finally, only three things:
- Torpedoes are today told the same idiotic legends that were told ten years ago about Pike.
- In many waters inhabited by torpedoes throughout Europe (e.g. Spain, Austria or Germany) other species are also present in abundance.
- In many places Eels, tenches and sturgeons disappeared well before the arrival of crucian carp, breme and torpedoes, more or less (but that's strange...) at the same time when the amount of heavy metals and other pollutants in the water increased. What a suspicious coincidence! Everyone knows who pays its discharge into the channel (and it's not just the little old man convicted of having thrown the tire of the motor in the water, even if of course he has his faults), and you begin, unfortunately, to see the first serious diseases caused by this pollution (according to a doctor with whom I spoke, at least four recent admissions that he has seen are caused by the ingestion of fish contaminated by heavy metals): when you will decide the authority to act against the perpetrators? But do the authorities realize that the damage caused is greater than the benefit caused by our “progress”? The state, or who for it, not to punish the guilty immediately, is paying a lot in environmental damage.
Conclusion
The carpfishing is spreading very much, especially for the particular relationship with the environment that surrounds us that offers us. Within a few years it became one of the most common techniques. A smattering of this technique is now useful (if not necessary) also to those who practice other techniques, not to mention that it is fun, you can practice in the company, allows us to meet new people and the environment, and finally it can be convenient to attempt your own personal record.
The beauty of my interpretation is that you can comfortably employ material used for other techniques, thus having a good savings. In addition, having recently started to practice it, I tried to simplify, trying to leave out all those technical subtleties not strictly necessary. It is now time for the carp to be closed, so I have suspended any further experiments in this area, but I can already anticipate that the very first technical tests have had a more than satisfactory outcome.
