Kawasaki ZX-10R 2016 Overview.Part2

Electronics Kawasaki announced that the new IMU system works with ABS, but it is not yet clear how advanced this tandem is - whether ABS will be able to work correctly in corners, as it is done on KTM, or it will be something like a unified braking system like on R1.
The S-KTRC traction control has five operating modes instead of three on the previous model. According to the engineers, the new system will be able to distinguish the driver's desire to make a "wheelie", when the torque on the wheels increases smoothly, from the sudden removal of the front wheel from the road and the intervention of electronics will occur just when it is necessary.
The launch control system has three operating modes. Like ABS, the launch control can be switched off completely with a special key. By controlling the engine braking control system, motorcyclists can choose the degree of engine braking depending on their own preferences.

Kawasaki announced that the new IMU system works with ABS, but it is not yet clear how advanced this tandem is - whether ABS will be able to work correctly in corners, as it is done on KTM, or it will be something like a unified braking system like on R1.
The new ZX-10R is equipped as standard with a Quick Splinter, in combination with a sports ECU, which allows you to switch down as quickly as possible and without the help of the clutch lever.
Finally, the electronic Ohlins rudder damper, about which Kawasaki engineers say that it is optimized for the conditions of the racetrack and winding roads, as much as possible corresponding to the other characteristics of the motorcycle.

Chassis, suspension, and brakes

The frame has not undergone any radical changes. It is still an aluminum construction with two spars, but with an offset 7.5 mm closer to the driver's upper tube, which moved the center of gravity towards the front wheel. The pendulum is new and is 15.8 mm longer. The computer simulation was used in the design of these units, which increased the torsional and lateral rigidity, which improved the controllability of the motorcycle without adding extra weight.
Of the purely racing elements that allow you to make a certain adjustment of the chassis, the bike uses adjustable clamps of the steering column and pendulum, allowing them to move by +/- 4 and +/- 2 mm, respectively.
The Showa Balance Free front suspension is brand new and Kawasaki says it was developed by Showa initially for use in the World Superbike championship. This new fork with gas shock absorbers is being introduced for the first time in mass production at the Kawasaki ZX-10R in 2016.
The fork uses an external nitrogen-filled chamber to create damping pressure for the main chambers inside the fork feathers. Of course, the compression and rebound damping forces can be adjusted independently of each other. Kawasaki claims that this Showa fork has improved damping responsiveness and provides the best grip on the surface.
The Showa shock absorber, a lighter and more compact version of the previously known BFRC model, also stands at the back. Like the front fork, this shock absorber has an external damping chamber. In 2016, the ZX-10R receives Brembo brakes and, as Kawasaki claims, these brakes are very similar to those of the Ninja H2R. At the front are a pair of 330 mm diameter discs, covered by 4-piston monoblock calipers Brembo M50. Kawasaki and Brembo have a special relationship. It is noted, for example, that the main brake cylinders are additionally tested before being shipped to Kawasaki plants. The rear wheel is equipped with one 220 mm brake disk with a single-piston caliper. Brake hoses are both front and rear braced in steel braid.

Styling and appliances

The general style and design of the body have not changed radically. Among the essential and noticeable elements is a new front cowl. The seat is wider and the tail shape has changed, making it sharper in shape.
The device with LED backlighting was supplemented with settings and information from new electronic systems, including engine braking control, inertial block, launch control, and others. There is even an indicator of economical driving, although it is difficult to imagine what kind of owner of the ZX-10R may need it. The device can automatically adjust the brightness of the backlight depending on changes in ambient light.
