Ducati electric cars and scooters are coming soon!

Ducati plans to launch its electric and scooters in 2020.

Recently, Edouard Lotthe, head of Ducati Western Europe, told the media that their electric car will be released in 2020.

Ducati has already commissioned two companies to promote their electric projects. As early as 2015, Ducati launched a mountain electric bicycle.

This year, in response to the rapidly tightening motor vehicle environmental protection policies in various places, motorcycle brands such as Honda, BMW, KTM, and Harley have increased their investment in the field of electric vehicles.

In June of this year, Honda President Hachio Hiroshi confirmed that they will launch electric scooters in 2018 to cope with the growing global electric two-wheeler market.

When talking about Honda's overall vision from now to 2030, Hachino Hiroshi said that two-thirds of the company's cars will be all-electric or plug-in hybrids.

The motorcycle industry, 2021 will also be a very important node. With the implementation of the Euro 5 emission standard, all major brands must comply with this standard.

Ducati's parent company Volkswagen also plans to fully enter the era of electrification in 2030. For Ducati, upgrading some models to electric versions is not a bad idea. In particular, the Scrambler series, which currently uses air-cooled engines, is still in use.

In an interview with the media, Edouard Lotthe emphasized that Ducati would not imitate other European motorcycle companies (specifically BMW, Triumph) and launch motorcycles under 400CC. However, he believes that Ducati can try the scooter.

In fact, in the company's development history, Ducati has built a scooter.

It is reported that Ducati had launched a scooter called Cucciolo before 1950. In 1952 and 1963, they introduced the two scooters, the Cruiser, and the Brio. But unfortunately, the two cars were discontinued in 1954 and 1967 respectively.

With the release of this news, some foreign media also began to play the strength of PS, "designed" several scooters for Ducati.

However, don't think that Ducati is not reliable. This brand, known for its super sports cars, has achieved profitability and expansion in the past 20 years by introducing various “unreliable” models.

In 1993, they launched the first streetcar Monster900; subsequently, Monster became the largest sales volume of the Ducati brand.

In 2003, Ducati followed the trend to launch the all-terrain Multistrada, and the series quickly became a hot-selling model for Ducati.

In 2015, when Ducati introduced the fashion retro brand Scrambler, they also became the best-selling series of the brand.

Therefore, it may be that Ducati's scooter can once again lead the brand to find a new market.

However, there are also reports that Ducati's current focus is on bringing the entire line of products to Euro 5 emission standards, so pedals and electric motorcycles may not be available soon. But for fans who love heavy locomotives and love Ducati, this day will come sooner or later!
