In the summer of 1811 in Tsarskoye Selo was opened a new elite educational institution, which was equivalent to the university education. Among the first lyceum students was the twelve-year-old Alexander Pushkin, who later called the lyceum "a homeland for his soul". The opening ceremony was attended by the royal family. A moral guideline for the whole period of study was the speech of A.P.
