Reflective antipathy

Let's try to figure out why the motorist doesn't like a biker. For the sake of justice, it is worth noting? The reasons are often objective and fair. Say, they fly 200 km/h around the city and at the same time scurry between cars, as in a ski slalom. The driver, having made a cursory glance in a rear-view mirror, rebuilds... and the motorcycle already near a door.

Really, such situations happen. Non-observance of speed limits, maneuvering rules, etc. And even dashing driving "under a degree".

In general, a biker often scares the motorist with his presence. The driver's eyes are "washed" on the car ? habitual, noticeable, large-size transport. The motorcyclist, as a rule, because of elementary inattention and carelessness of driving he simply does not see. And when he notices at the last moment ? shuffles or sharply and by the way slows down, than only aggravates an emergency situation.

Let the statistics judge us

Let's look at the impartial statistics. Last year, 388 motorcycle accidents were recorded, more than half of the road users were injured, and 15 bikers were killed. The figures are frightening, although it is well known that motorcyclists are ten times more likely to be injured than motorists. The first thing that comes to mind is: "It's your fault?

It wasn't here! According to the Road Police, only half of the bikers were involved in an accident through their own fault. That is, every second accident was caused by the driver of the car. The most common reasons for the collisions were: the choice of speed that did not correspond to the road conditions, resulting in a fall; failure to observe the distance; failure to provide the road to the motorcycle when making a left turn; failure to provide the road to the motorcycle moving on the main road; violation of maneuvering rules; control of the motorcycle while intoxicated.

Hot heads

And now let's take a look at the age distribution of bikers, who are interested in traffic accidents: 47%? Motorcyclists under 25 years old, 21%? 25-30 years old, 18% ? 30-35 years old, 14% ? older than 35 years. By the way, true and law-abiding bikers, among which there are a lot of respectable people, directors of firms and even politicians, look at young and inexperienced racers as on dementia suicides and have nothing in common with them.

Yes, among motorcyclists there are "low-flying pilots", grossly violating the traffic rules. Yes, many of them only the day before yesterday got on a bike for the first time, and even after drinking a couple of beers. But, with your hand on your heart, how can you answer such questions: aren't there not enough aggressive drivers? Isn't it almost every day in the abundance of news slipping through such: "A 17-year-old drunk teenager without a driver's license failed to drive and crashed into a tree. His 15 passengers and 16-year-old friends and girlfriends died together with him, what was the full salon?

For those in the "tank"

Again, for the sake of fairness, it is necessary to return to the statistics and remember that almost 50% of accidents with bikes happen due to the fault of the drivers of the car. And although the motorcyclist is a full participant of the road traffic, for some reason he is ignored by the motorist. Often because of inattention. And sometimes it happens that out of dislike.

Quite a common myth among people who have never sat on a motorcycle: "Since you are so fast, you accelerate so fast, you must reduce the speed accordingly. In fact, the braking distance of a bike is two (!) times longer than that of a car. Moreover, emergency deceleration for unstable two-wheeled transport is a real "extreme", fraught with an emergency situation.
Drivers and road policemen! Let's remember this and protect motorcyclists, it's people! After all, in an accident, the one who is in the car, will get rid of a light fright and crumpled wing. And the one who is on the bike, at best will be in traumatology. Let's be attentive and mutually polite. After all, it is better to give way to each other from sin away. Why do we need an accident?
