Stages of self-development: 5 steps to self-development

Part 2

Where to start your self-development

Finding and understanding what needs to be changed is the second step towards self-development. Everybody has disadvantages, but only your shortcomings should worry you, as they can cause failures and defeats, as well as unsatisfactory results in life. What does not allow you to open up, what prevents you from having fun and joy from life?

If you feel that you are not progressing at work, but want to do so, think about what qualities or skills you need to start to bring up in yourself. If the work sucks you out of your energy, think about what you would like to do and what you need to do. If you need internal support, it makes sense to turn to psychology, religion or esoterics. The most important thing is to identify the direction that needs to change.

Forming an image of the desired future and setting a goal

The third step on the way to the beginning of self-development is to set a goal. If the last stage outlines the picture of what and where on the so, the formation of the desired image of the future will allow you to outline the main guidelines on the way and understand where and to what exactly you want to come. But there is one trick here.

For many people, the stage of setting a goal turns out to be a stumbling block. It happens because most people know what they don't want and how they don't want, but have no idea what they want and what will suit them. The result of this ignorance is a classic genre - complaints about life, blaming everyone and everything for their troubles and misfortunes, victim syndrome, self-pity, etc. And this is exactly what should not be allowed in any case, because there can be no self-development here.

Do it differently: choose the time, take a sheet and pen, write down everything you are not satisfied with and how the opposite picture looks like, and you will have a visual guide to action. Determine what exactly you want to change, what you want to learn, what you want to do, etc. Be honest with yourself - only this will help you understand what you really need, and what direction to choose for self-development.

By the way, we have a special test to identify areas of self-development, which will give you a selection of suitable materials for reading and learning: articles, references to books and courses.

Finding the right ways to achieve your desired result

The fourth step is to look for and identify suitable ways of self-development. It's simple - you need to consider all the options that will help you in the implementation of your plans. We advise you to pay attention to books, films, trainings and courses on the relevant topics. You can also ask for advice from more educated and experienced people, professionals and trainers.

Today, there is a huge amount of material on various topics on the Internet: from increasing the speed of reading to improving memory, from muscle gain to brain training, from learning foreign languages to spiritual development. But it is equally important to remember that by taking the path of self-development, we need to be very selective in approaching the circle of our communication. "Wrong" people will pull you back and say that you will fail. We should strive to communicate with those who have already achieved what you want to achieve, who are stronger, smarter, better than you!

Actions, actions and actions again

Once you've set goals and found the right options for your development, don't hesitate to take action. This step can be called the most important, because it depends on it, whether you will be able to achieve the goal. Actions will include reading books, watching videos, taking courses, finding and learning new information, and applying what you learn from selected sources.

Any change (and self-development is a change in its purest form) is labour intensive. So you will have to sweat to start moving forward. This can be compared to how a rocket crosses the attraction to get off the ground and into space. At first, you use maximum energy and fuel to get up, but as you get up, it becomes easier to fly, and as a result, you only have to adjust your course. Similarly, with self-development, by overcoming laziness, the boundaries of the comfort zone and your "don't want" or "can't", you interrupt yourself to become stronger and better. And you have to go forward boldly. As a result, it will become easier, and to develop, you will just have to correct the direction of movement from time to time.

And in order to make it easier to move, always remember what you're doing it all for. If you achieve even the smallest results, compare them with those that were before you started to develop yourself (especially this advice is suitable for beginners). The process of self-improvement is a continuous one, but the more you put effort into it, the easier it will be to give you.

And since we have mentioned laziness, discomfort, unwillingness, and other things that can affect your health and well-being, the more you can make an effort, the easier it will be for you to do so.
