In general, there are no universal stages of self-development due to the individual characteristics of each individual and his or her life. In each case, both the path itself and its segments along which a person moves will differ and have a lot of variants. But there are still a few steps that can be given as general recommendations. Only these steps are five:

Awareness of the need for change

Find your weaknesses/guidelines for development

To form an image of the desired future and set a goal

Find and choose the appropriate ways to achieve the desired result

Start acting on the basis of the goals set and the methods chosen

Let's look at each of these steps in more detail.

Awareness of the need for change

Realizing that change is necessary is the first thing to do. The best way to do this is to critically assess yourself, your condition and your life. In most cases, it is possible to focus on a few indicators that can directly indicate that it is time to change and begin to develop:

"Distortion" of the world.

Sometimes it happens that a person starts to notice that something has happened to the world around him, that people do things that are not understandable and logical, that some unexplained events are happening. With a high degree of probability it may indicate that the person himself begins to "go crazy". The reason can be dissatisfaction with life, not "your" business, routine, boredom, etc. This should be seen as a signal of the need for change, and begin to look for ways out of the situation immediately.

A sense of degradation and standing still.

In everyday life, you can start to do what you did not want to do until recently, to feel that you are not going anywhere and that life is wasted. Another sign is the understanding that you have no purpose and ambition, that you have no desire to reach new heights, and that you are mired in the grey of everyday life and the trifles of life. Any of these manifestations should be an indication of the need for change.

An inexplicable feeling of anxiety inside.

It can occur for no reason, but can be expressed in anticipation of inevitable misfortune or trouble, a sense of severity from the problems that have arisen or are expected to arise, and depression. It is necessary to understand what causes this condition. Sometimes it is useful to see a specialist, such as a psychologist.

Procrastination.

Simply put, it is an endless postponement of important matters. At first glance, it may seem trifling, but in the end it may lead to the accumulation of unresolved problems, life problems and painful psychological effects. If you notice that you have started to invent something more important for yourself on a regular basis, it is time to understand that you are not satisfied with life and set new motivating goals.

The emergence of bad habits.

As strange as it may sound, but sometimes people start to drink or smoke (God forbid - to take drugs), chew nails or lips, "stick" in social networks and aimlessly spend time from the fact that they do not know what to do. This is another signal that you need to start changing something in yourself and in life. Otherwise, you can be at the bottom.

It is not always easy to understand that "something is wrong". Sometimes our consciousness deliberately builds barriers, saying that everything is normal, that it is temporary. Of course, if the above feelings arise in you once a year, it is worth just relaxing or going on vacation for a couple of weeks. But still, look at your life from the outside - if these manifestations have already begun to resemble chronic, you need to pull yourself together and think about what to do next.
