We have already described in a previous article that individual happy moments can increase your overall well-being significantly. Today we would like to take a closer look at the subject of laughter.

What is a happy moment for you, of course, is individual and can not be expressed as a whole. Nevertheless, in conversations, most people agree with me that there are certain experiences that make you happier. Often, these are moments when we interact with good friends, family, our pet, or just ourselves. The prerequisite is often that we are not under pressure - so you do not have to leave immediately, have something to do, etc.

A comparatively simple way to make yourself happy in a moment is laughter. It is not without reason that we often like / love people who make us laugh. Laughter is an expression of joy, carefreeness, relaxation and peace. This is the reason that we are happier when we laugh more often. How can we consciously use this to make our lives happier?

Requirements to be able to laugh

The beauty of laughter is that, if it is real, it can be achieved in almost any situation.

What do I mean by that?

A laugh is triggered spontaneously, either by an external or an internal influence. In outer influence our brain processes information and at the moment of a certain connection we laugh, because we find the information or its compilation just funny.

But we can also retrieve information about which we have to laugh about. Either in response to something that we have just seen, o.ä. or just within a process of thought.

It is true that laughter is more difficult when a person is in a situation where he is very unhappy. Is e.g. just when a loved one or a beloved animal dies, was abandoned or quit, etc., it becomes more difficult to make a laugh, both through internal and external influences.

But that is mainly due to a self-made blockade. We tend to feel unfortunate because of a certain circumstance to project this onto our entire life and thoughts and allow only bad thoughts.

In addition, we e.g. in public tragedies, the death of a loved one, etc. are of the opinion, it would not be ok if we laugh now, even if something nice or funny happens. Of that one should make myself completely free in my opinion. A laugh is something natural and should never be blocked, and in the tragedy it does not change anything if we ourselves are now only unhappy and by our appearance also transfer this to other people.

With self-imposed mourning, you prevent your happiness and that of others

I can understand it well, if someone is not in a good mood for 1-2 days, because something happened. After that, it should be good and you should open again for external influences, which also include fun and joy.

And that's what it's about for me: being open to having fun and laughing. When that's done, you already have a very good chance that the following ideas will help you to be happier.

Make you laugh consciously

We are now open for fun and laughter, but there is not always a suitable trigger. It should not be - During an important task at work or during a test at school or in college, a sudden laugh is not only inappropriate, but also distracts us from our real job.

But if we consciously decide that we want to consciously try to laugh a lot and often the next weekend, for example, then we can work towards that purpose.

What should I do:

You should just think about what you personally find funny. This helps research in your own memories, there are often funny moments, sayings, movies, music, etc. stored. In addition, it helps to pay attention for a while, which moments make you laugh. Is it certain people who make you laugh in conversations over and over again? Or is it the pet, which always makes for sudden laughs?

No matter what you have determined (I recommend actually writing down a list of things or typing in the cell phone) - To make you consciously laugh, you should do just these things:

Sit down over the weekend and watch a movie you found funny the last time. Listen to music that you find funny (how about Helge Schneider? Or rather K.I.Z.? - everyone has their own taste!).

Meet people who make you laugh. Do something with your pet etc.

So far, we have only listed things that we already know. Sometimes it is especially funny when we get to know something new funny. In this day and age there are great opportunities. For example, sites such as YouTube suggest similar content, and I've come to know many things through these and similar features that are among the funniest things I know today. It also helps to specifically ask friends for funny videos, music, etc.

In any case, it makes sense to keep a kind of list with things that make you laugh - so you can just look at it anytime and find something to laugh more and more often.

Laughter also has physical effects

Today there are numerous salmon groups, laugh clubs and similar. Smiled at times, the attendance of such events is sometimes recommended by doctors, as it is proven that the body is positively influenced by "real" laughter. A well known and widespread information is that of

Human being alone in the face 17 different muscles while laughing. But laughter can do much more, such as:

- Intensify your breathing

- distribute happiness hormones

- Strengthen the immune system

- reduce stress and bring about relaxation

- Reduce pain

- Uvm.

Thus, not only can we positively influence our wellbeing in laughter on the psychic side, but there are also real, physical influences.

Laugh as often as you can - it will make you happier!

Conclusion: laugh as often as possible

Of course, every person knows that laughter is something beautiful and good. However, once you realize what a great deal of laughter can contribute to physical and emotional well-being, it is certainly worth using this method more consciously.

This is not about laughing at compulsion, but about bringing about something more conscious than usual, which in all likelihood will be funny from your very own point of view.

I hope you enjoy trying it out and appreciate every comment, whether it has helped, you have more suggestions or just just funny posts.
