Four simple steps to the dream house.
Imagine: the long-awaited moment - you move or decide to "refresh" the old interior, but instead of joy suddenly feel doubts: "Here I decide to change, spend a lot of money and time, and in the end I'll be disappointed, all around will only get in the way and irritate", "I do not understand: I really like this style, or it just looks great in a fashion magazine / friends' apartment? Such thoughts often encourage us to follow the old pattern, choose the familiar and familiar. Or until the end, hope that the issues will be solved by themselves as they go along. As a result, the curtains do not fit the sofa and the sofa does not fit the favorite cat.
In order to prevent this from happening, we prepared a small instruction manual. It will help you answer the questions and find the same style of interior, in which you will be as good and comfortable as possible.
Step 1: Looking for inspiration in a...
Internet service, where a huge number of illustrations are collected. It is an inexhaustible source of inspiration, fresh solutions and ideas. Like photos and pictures (pins) can be saved on your page, combined into thematic collections (boards) and shared on social networks. Gather a folder of your favorite interiors, review them, think about what you are attracted to them, and what elements you would like to see in your home.
The service has a very convenient feature - it gradually remembers which images you choose, and offers similar ones to quickly and easily replenish the collection. Plus, it's a great option for those who want to "also, but wallpaper in two tones lighter" or "more minimalistic chandelier", but don't know how it will look in reality.
Tip: Don't rush to the store, for example, for a lavender chest of drawers and wicker baskets, as soon as you realize that the interiors in the style of provans heart beats faster. First, it is better to collect the mudboard with the pictures you like (you can even print and hang them in a prominent place) and periodically return to it, removing unnecessary photos. Gradually there will be a general picture of what you really like, not just "got in the mood" or "caught the eye".
Step 2. Use the light meter
A light meter is a useful and pleasant tool that we are truly proud of. It helps to determine the style of the interior, approximate colors, finishing materials, even with elements of furniture and decor. A light meter is a test, but instead of tricky questions with terrible terms of pictures and phrase-association, from which you can choose what you like best. The result is a personal chart that clearly shows what we are more eager to achieve: a restrained or bold palette, romance or brutality, classics or modernity, minimalism or abundance.
Under the diagram - deciphering the results with practical advice and collage of suitable style textures, colors, furniture and decor, from which you can make a so-called style map or mudbird and use it to create the interior dreams.
Tip: If several people make a decision, take the test with them: the discussion will be more substantive and detailed. When you understand what everyone likes, it is easier to reach a compromise, so the debate is minimized
Step 3: Compare expectations and reality
At this stage, we return from the boundless world of fantasy to reality and decide what elements of our ideal home can be realized and what is better to abandon. First of all, we take into account the needs and composition of the family. Thoroughly weigh the pros and cons before putting a high-bedroom bath in an apartment where the elderly live, or making glass partitions when there are young children.
Make sure that the style you choose is not just visually pleasing, but also fits your lifestyle. The minimalistic interior in pictures or in friends' apartments can look amazing, but if you are used to surround yourself with a lot of things, it will be uncomfortable.
Tip: Try living in the environment you want to create in your own home for a couple of days or even weeks. For example, in a hotel, in a holiday home, in an airnbnb apartment, or with the same friends. And then, as with the beautiful shoes after a few visits to the world: either it turns out that it's exactly yours, or it's crowded, squeezes and does not seem so attractive at all
Step 4. Gather the final picture and make a shopping list
The last step is the visualization of ideas in the form of a final picture and a list of purchases (finishing materials, furniture, decor). This will help to outsmart the existing pattern of behavior: if you keep in mind a clear picture of the future interior and go strictly on the plastic sheet, hands will not reach for things that you are accustomed to surround yourself in the same place.
