Today I would like to tell you about the gestures in Turkey, as it is a different country, then it has a different mentality, different manners and different notions to be aware of and not to get into unpleasant situations, I ask you to take it more seriously, but Turks are not like us and sometimes it seems strange, but do not forget they are the eastern people, which means they are hot.                                                                                              Okay, note!
Lifted thumb - In conversation has the same meaning as in us - "good", "cool", "super, so we will do". ONE!
We do not advise the beautiful half of mankind to raise their thumbs on the side of the road and to vote by hitchhiking. This gesture is used by the representatives of the oldest profession (which, by the way, is legalized in Turkey) and it means sexual desire, but not a request: "Drive! In the first stopped car there may be a good black-eyed man, who interpreted your gesture in a Turkish way, to the hit of Tarkana "Oh, mother, chic ladies!", will take you to the mountains and make you his favorite wife (keep in mind - officially there is no polygamy in Turkey, as well as no drivers who earn a ride for passengers).
So, if you want to get somewhere, we recommend you to use taxi services - here they are yellow and taxi buttons installed on the lantern poles along the road, as well as taxi stands, are found everywhere.
If you still want to get there on the way, then vote with your usual gesture - an outstretched hand with a straight palm.

Crossed fingers gesture, which we are accustomed to seeing in Western films and Latin American series, symbolizing the wish of good luck. The expression "keep your fingers crossed for me" and the gesture with your index and middle fingers appeared in England at the beginning of the last century and soon spread all over the world, excluding Turkey.
The sign became a guardian against evil and even a mascot at the beginning of a new business, both for the person who makes it and for whom it is shown.
In Turkey, however, your sincere wish for all the best will at least go unnoticed. Still, the gesture resembles a blessing with a cross and it would be strange if it was used by the faithful Turks. But the Turkish brother may interpret it in his own way and decide that you are putting an end to your relationship. So, don't be surprised if he just disappears (in English), leaving a slight trace of his memory for your remorse.

Little finger. - An elongated finger with a palm down means your offense at the person. You do not want to talk to him.
The lower eyelid, pulled with your finger down, means that the Turk noticed a trick - now it is not fooled. In the circle of high-class Turkish businessmen, such a gesture will be an indication of a trick of an economic nature, in the relationship between husband and wife - the question is likely to arise about treason. And Turkish mobsters, seeing the warning signal from the "godfather", will keep their ears on the top of their heads and prepare steel guns.
A brush rib drawn across the throat back and forth - such a gesture will help the foreigner to explain that you are tired of this situation and simply fed up with everything. However, we advise you not to resort to it often.
Tipping your head back. It is carried out by a complicated maneuver of biting the thumbnail and then moving the head backward. Meaning: frightened, sudden fear.
For example, you decided to play a joke on a person, suddenly frightening him from around the corner. The victim will most likely depict this gesture.
Fingers with a fan. Favorite gesture of the Turks, which has no other purpose, as a demonstration of the famous Turkish gold and an invitation to consider a profitable purchase. We advise you to answer in a similar way in the case: 1. if you have the same kind of alloy on all your fingers and you don't need extra; 2. if you have only one wedding ring lost on your fingers and you are located for further reproduction of similar ones.
An arm stretched out in front of your chest, bent in the elbow and clenched in the fist (reminiscent of the gesture of freedom fighters, supporters of Che Guevara). The palm is directed to the heart. A true original Turkish gesture with its own history: according to legend, one sultan introduced the practice of cutting off the language to the Eunuchs so that they could not convey what they saw to anyone. However, they compensated for the loss by creating an effective sign language (after realizing that he could not cut off his hands, the Sultan abandoned the idea). Reaching out his hand to the interlocutor, the Turk does not call for a fight, but as if tells him that he is healthy, he is fed up, that everything is fine and that the real Turk is "always super everywhere".

OK- In English-speaking countries, a thumb and index finger ring means "everything is fine. - In Turkey and Greece, this gesture can be taken as a hint of homosexuality.

Fig.-WARNING! WILL BE WARNING! So familiar to us combination of three fingers, meaning in Russia and Ukraine "you get nothing", and in Brazil and Portugal - a gesture of protection, in Turkey - the worst sexual abuse and is just as important as the raised middle finger in American films.
A nod to the head - It means not agreement, but negation on the contrary. I'm sure you've heard that Bulgarians nodding their heads means no, not yes. And so are the Turks. Throwing one's head up, sometimes accompanied by a characteristic tongue bump, is a typical Turkish gesture of "no".        This article was written to make it easier for you to avoid rude gossip and unpleasant situations when communicating with Turks. Be careful with respect for others, regardless of their religion or nationality!
