RADIO-CONTROLLED VEHICLE CLASSES
If you are here to read this article, you probably have a question of choosing a radio-controlled car model. A novice can usually divide all models into a maximum of two types: highway and off-road. Perhaps, this is the main principle division into views. What you prefer is to ride on a flat asphalt or carpet, write the perfect trajectory or jump off-road and dirt? But the answer to this question is not enough, among each of these types of car models have their own subspecies, which is worth to understand.
MONSTROUS
Beginners often choose a model with big wheels, a monster. It has a high cross-country ability, it looks very serious and of all types of models, they are probably the most spectacular. Monsters do not need a special track, they can ride almost anywhere, they put big wheels to powerful grounding hooks. However, this technique is not for those who want to participate in the race - competition in the class of monsters are not common, so most likely we will have to settle for rides with friends for their pleasure and/or to the enthusiastic screams of the crowd, if you choose to ride in a crowded place. By the way, monsters almost feel better in winter because of the high ground clearance.
BUGGI
Buggy is the most athletic class of all-terrain vehicles. They are small for their scale fast cars, which can move very quickly on the ground prepared routes with jumps. Despite the fact that buggies are SUVs, they can not be required to be large cross-country ability, they are designed for racing on the prepared tracks and have small ground clearance.
Truggy
Truggy is a slightly less popular class, differs from buggy by larger width and larger wheel diameter. At the same time, tragedies calmer tolerate unevenness of the track, but heavier, so he steers and jumps a little worse. Otherwise, it's still the same. We can say that tragedies occupy an intermediate place between monsters and buggies, but closer to the latter.
SHORT COURSE
An interesting class of radio-controlled models, which occupies a place somewhere between buggy and tragedy. But the most important difference is the copy of its body. While buggy and tragedy bodies are usually unparalleled among real cars, Short Course models (called "shorts" or "sprats" in the car modeling community) look like real racing cars.
CRAULERS
Crawlers or "Rock Crawler" are special machines with special bending chassis that allow them to overcome incredible obstacles. They are slow machines for climbing over huge stones.
TROPHI
It is one more kind of slow-moving radio-controlled models, but in this case the emphasis is made on copying, bodies of these models try to make as much as possible similar to actually existing SUVs. The elements of these models are dirt and other similar natural obstacles.
With SUVs finished, we will pass to highway models. There is no such variety here, but cars of different classes can differ considerably, and the majority of differences are internal and can hide under the same bodywork.
TOURING
By analogy with the real car, races are called highway body races. Races can be held both on the street and in the premises. In the first case, as a coating is used prepared flat asphalt, in the second - a special carpet. Vehicles of this class are very sensitive to the quality of coverage and the main requirements to the track is the absence of unevenness and excellent adhesion. Races in this class require an excellent response and precise control. Touring models' bodies may seem boring, but they are specially designed to improve the car's behavior on the track.
DRIFT
Drifting models have much in common with conventional highway models, with the exception of some modifications that make it easier to bring the machine into the drift. The model is equipped with powerful engines and special solid slippery tires to facilitate the machine's breakdown into a skid. As a rule, drifting machines are very beautiful.
RALLY
The difference between rally cars lies in slightly increased ground clearance and rubber with a larger tread. Unlike touring and drifting, rallying competitions are held on the tracks, including those with a ground surface.
Well, we have considered the main classes of radio-controlled models. Of course, besides that, we should take into account the type of engine (electric or internal combustion engine), the scale of the model, the type of drive (4WD or 2WD), but this is covered in other articles.
