Оглавление

Autumn is the time to prepare your garden for next season. Most plants allow both spring and autumn planting. But early spring flowers, which meet us with snow and make us happy until early summer, should be planted in autumn. Let's get to know them first and choose who will live in your flowerbeds.

Crocus

These are the brightest and very first flowers that bloom almost under the snow. Only the first protamines appear, and they are already here. Blue, blue, yellow, pink, white - among the early spring flowers of crocuses the most colorful palette.Crocuses belong to the subgroup of small bulbs, which means that they have small bulbs. The optimal planting time in the middle zone for plants in this subgroup is the first half of September. And the best place to plant crocuses is sunny.

Scylla

These flowers are also called rushes. This is probably the most unpretentious flower, which grows in the sun and the shade. It multiplies and grows quickly, forming blue meadows, from which it is impossible to take your eyes off in spring. The planting time for Scylla is the same - the first half of September. But if you're a little late, it's okay. Scylla's character is easy to handle, and it's bound to take root. And then it will surprise you with self-seeding. Scylla is one of the few people who multiply by dividing bulbs and seeds.

Galantus

Behind this is the legendary fairytale flower, the snowdrop. Despite its name, it usually blossoms after the snow melts, a little later than crocuses, at the same time as the forest. They are even often confused, so they are similar. If you plant them next to each other, you can get beautiful blue-and-white combinations and combinations. All the more so as the planting time of these flowers coincides.

Muscari

Another blue primrose is the Muscari, also known as the mouse hyacinth. It's a flower and it's like a hyacinth, but it's just a small one, so it's a mouse one. The unpretentious, fast-breeding bulb and seed division will not cause any trouble in growing. It is possible to plant, since the end of summer and all September.

Pushkinia

Tender white with blue streaks is the most common color of the cannonball, although this is not the only option. Pushkinia belongs to the family of hyacinths and is similar to it in some ways. Otherwise, like the majority of small-bowed primrose flowers, it is unprivileged and recommended for planting in August-September.

Hionodox

White, gentle blue, light purple flowers owe their name to the Greek language, which combines "snow" and "glory" in the name. That is, the Hionodox is a Greek relative of the snowdrop. And on the biological branch - a relative of Scylla. As well as the whole family - low height, modest and elegant, undemanding in care. We plant it in August-September.

Fritillaria

Simple as that, it's grouse. The family of hazel grouse is very diverse. Among them are spring and autumn blossoming, stunted and above a meter. Therefore, its classification as a small bulb group is rather conditional. There are varieties with small, up to a centimeter in diameter bulbs, and there are larger ones - up to 3 centimeters. The planting time of spring-flowering varieties is the end of August or the beginning of September.

General rules

Even though small bulbous primrose may belong to different species, there are many similarities in their agricultural machinery.

  • They don't like overwetting. If excessive moisture remains in the ground for a long time, the bulbs simply rot. Although small bulbs are not as critical to water stagnation as their larger brothers, such as tulips, this feature should be taken into account when choosing the place of planting.
  • They are unpretentious. Almost all flowers in this group are not demanding to soils. Of course, they will be grateful to make the hummus, but in general, they will live without it. Their unpretentiousness makes it possible to use the small bulbous ones on the alpine slides with success.
  • The best time to land in the first half of September. Taking into account the unpretentious nature of the first flowers, the time of planting transplants can be shifted, but it is optimal for the middle zone of Russia exactly this period.
  • Planting is done at a depth equal to the height of the bulb multiplied by three. Usually, it is 5-10 centimeters. For clayey soils - multiplied by two.
  • The distance between bulbs can be quite different when planting. It is not forbidden, if you want to get a dense flower carpet, to spread out bulbs next to each other. If, however, you want them to grow and gradually fill the space, leave more space for the babies that form each year.
  • Petrafluoric primrose does not require annual digging. They are recommended to be transplanted every 4-5 years, but this is not a necessary procedure. Resort to transplanting if you see that the flowering is decreasing. Or if you want to move flowers to another place.
  • If you have started a transplant, dig up the bulbs when the leaves wither. Leave them to dry out in a dry but dark place. In September, drop the leaves off at a new location. All plants in this group do not bloom for long.
