Unhappy trip to Solden. Part 1

I have long been planning to go to Sölden, which is considered the Alpine Ibiza. Back in October, I booked 3 apartments for our entire large company, bought tickets and looked forward to the first week of March. When less than a week was left before the trip, it turned out that they didn’t want to let me go on vacation at work, but I managed to persuade the general with difficulty, promising a labor feat upon return. However, you won’t get away from fate; you still couldn’t rest. The husband fell ill with pneumonia on the first day of vacation in Sölden, the child had bronchitis on the second. So that the impression is likely not from skiing, but from the level of Austrian medicine. Maybe someone will be useful ... God forbid. How to get there

The cheapest option was to fly via Munich with a direct Air Berlin flight. On Friday night we arrived, took a car at the airport. Instead of the ordered BMW, we got a large Opel Zafira. The husband was a little upset, but this was only the beginning of trouble. A couple of months later, upon returning his card, 850 euros were unexpectedly withdrawn for some kind of car repair. The proceedings with the bank and the rental office did not end there, they claim that we scratched the car, we do not remember anything like that. How to find the truth in this case is not clear. On Saturday, terrible traffic jams. There we drove along the highway for 4 hours, decided to get back in small paths, it turned out even worse.

We also flew back from Munich on Monday, March 11, so the tickets were much cheaper.

How to get a visa?

Since the Austrian embassy gives visas only for the duration of the trip, we went as usual to the French. They pretended to be going to Strasbourg, the tickets were all the same to Munich and received their usual annual visas.

Where to stay?

When I booked the apartment there weren’t very many options, and we still had to find a house where there would be at least 2 free rooms for 8 people. I chose A Casa Residenz

800m from the Giggijochbahn ski lift, my husband was terribly unhappy to stomp far in boots, but it turned out that stomping in boots was completely unnecessary. In Sölden, they came up with a terribly convenient service, skis and boots can be taken absolutely free for the night at the lower or upper station of the lift.

The apartments themselves are simply chic, new large with 2 huge bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, plus a large living room with kitchenette. There is everything you need from kitchen utensils, even a dishwasher. In the building there is a ski storage and a sauna, which, unfortunately, we did not reach. In front of the house there is a ski bus stop, to the center 10 minutes on foot. From our windows on the second floor there was a wonderful view of the river and mountains.

In Munich we visit almost every winter, so I already have my favorite hotels. This year they did not begin to change traditions, on the way there they settled in Mercury 4 * at the central station, so that you could walk in the center in the morning, and on the way back - next to the airport in Movenpick 4 *. Both hotels suit me both in terms of service level and price level.

What about skating?

Instead of this section, apparently you need to write a section with treatment, because my husband did not ride at all, the child was in the group for only 1 day, although I bought him classes for the whole day with lunch. Money, of course, was gone. Our friends say that there are many different, interesting and interesting tracks for beginners. The weather was super, warm, sunny. In the village below, the snow had almost melted, there was a lot of it at the top, and only at the ski lifts in the middle of the day was porridge. Our friends took individual lessons with an instructor, there was a Russian-speaking Bulgarian, they liked it.

Second part coming soon...
