The last Austrian line - the Stubai Glacier

Our traditional winter mountain tour.

This time our route: Minsk-Prague-Stubai (Neustift) -Krakow-Wieliczka-Minsk.

We start the car with the whole family (2 adults, 2 children) 01/22/2015 from Minsk.

The whole trip took 10 days.

We have already traveled to many famous glaciers in Austria (Hintertux, Sölden, Zell am See and Kaprun, Saalbach Hinterglemm in Carinthia, Ottal).

3,000 meters above the sky !, Ski slopes Zell am See, Ski slopes Sölden,

The Stubai Glacier in Neustift remained unconquered.

The distance from Minsk to Neustift is 1700 km, so we decided to make a stop in Prague. Our favorite place is the Staropramen restaurant at the brewery.

Restaurant and Brasserie "Staropramen" Near the factory, we stayed in apartments with free parking.

What have we discovered for ourselves in Prague? With tram number 12 you can go around the cultural center of the city from the restaurant itself and visit your favorite mast see places: Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square, St. Vita in Prague Castle. Evening Prague

What you need to do: dine at Staropramen, of course, with a boar and knee soup in mojito beer, make a wish on Charles Bridge, warm yourself with hot mulled wine on Old Town Square, admire the panorama of Prague Castle and buy absinthe for tasting with friends.

Well, in the morning move on towards Austria.

What do we like in Austria? The expected comfort and coziness, since we usually rent apartments in the houses of local Aboriginal people themselves, are always beautiful and quiet places with a gorgeous view of the mountains, the murmur of rivers and excellent skiing in beautiful places.

Oh yes, also expected gastronomic goodies, berries, mulled wine.

Therefore, every year we strive to enjoy Austrian mountain zen.

What about the glacier? The expected comfortable ski area, the rest depends on the weather and personal preferences.

The younger one was “handed over” to a ski school (equipment rental - about 80 euros for two children for 4 days)

And, lo and behold, our Cyril won first place in his group of students, after 4 days of training.

The eldest daughter has been skiing since the age of 5, so she rides faster and better than us, only a pink jacket flickers somewhere in front. Her school also began in Austria in Maierhoffen. We must pay tribute to the teachers of the Austrians.

Children do not know the language, but teacher-instructors are able to find an approach to each child. And the bonus system (competitions and medals) does not leave children and parents indifferent.

The weather in the mountains is changeable, so we were lucky: a couple of days were sunny, a couple of days fog. We managed to catch our ski happiness.

How wonderful to sunbathe on the sunbeds, enjoy the winter view of the mountains and drink a burning mulled wine or berry. We usually cook mulled wine ourselves and take it for a ride in a thermos.

Lunch for four in a restaurant on the mountain cost us 30-40 euros, it’s hearty, but it’s hard to find empty seats and expensive lunch breaks.

And we also visited the ice grotto. The ice grotto at an altitude of almost 3000 meters, informative and beautiful. Children naturally liked the throne, winter is coming ...

On the last day, the husband and daughter had fun, like most residents of the town of Neder, that is, they rode on wooden sleds, descending from the toboggan run directly to the houses. And it is absolutely normal that old and young, having loaded the sleds behind the back, stomp uphill, and then with cheerful cries and bells ringing they rush back.

I don’t even know, is this the only available entertainment for the majority of people in the town (no Internet) or the tradition of spending their leisure time like that.
