Everyone who caught the era of the first Playstation remember the amazing race on the map called Crash Team Racing. The Naughty Dog was inspired by the famous Mario Kart, but it wasn't a reckless clone of language to call it. The ingenious adaptation of the Nintendo concept to the marsupial universe resonated in the hearts of millions of fans and made them fall in love with themselves, both old and young. Even those who saw the bandit for the first time were happy to sit on the couch and grab the joystick firmly. It was an unforgettable time. However, Naughty Dog did a noble thing - when they realized that they didn't have any fundamentally new ideas on how to develop the series, and they didn't want to put the same tricks on the stream of exploitation, the guys just put the animal in the wrong hands, so that they could decide where to go next with their fresh eyes. Unfortunately, Kresh slowly but surely went downhill - at first Crash Bash, which was not bad, but couldn't compete with the first parts anymore; then he made his pratformer debut on PlayStation 2 and Xbox, which repeated the concept of Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped. The former silly mascot of Sony walked on hands like a cheap whore - the companies threw it to each other as if playing volleyball. When he fell into Vicarious Visions' hands (Crash Bandicoot: N-Sane Trilogy), they found nothing smarter than to recreate the old hit, Crash Team Racing, just a little bit more modern. The project was called Crash Nitro Kart. It was released in the late fall of 2003 and received mixed, but mostly positive reviews. Most critics agreed that the craftsmanship was very similar to the Crash Team Racing. Some criticized the game for being too classical and not having any significant innovations, while others worshipped it. The advantage was considered to be a lot of ways of slipping and accelerating, thanks to which you can easily identify the newcomer and venerable player. Almost unanimously the sharks of the pen praised the graphics, which was filled with colors, as well as smooth animation and great storylines. It was said that the actors voicing the characters were giving their best, but the music could get tired after a while. All this put Crash Nitro Kart behind Crash Team Racing. So, will the act of Vicarious Visions please the hardened fans of the bandicoota or will it be deservedly booed? It's time to check it out.

Plot

The intro screen saver starts slowly. We are shown a plan with a slow hit-and-run on Kresh's house. We see the owner of the house sleeping peacefully on the floor, while in the garage Coco fixes cards and Crunch swings as always. Suddenly, the divine light begins to fall out of the window, and the heroes and the house move to another world. Meanwhile, in Cortex Castle another plan to capture the world is underway. However, the plans do not succeed - the divine light penetrates here. Finally, he pulls the highest tower with all the villains away from the castle and carries it over the edge of the frame. Next, we learn that this mysterious light has transferred the characters to another planet in the form of an alien's head. Heroes and villains converge face to face and try to figure out what's going on. It seems that they have found themselves in a giant arena - an impressive crowd of spectators has already gathered around them, who require spectacles. Unexpectedly, a hologram of an alien's head materializes on the throne. Having taken a closer look, we notice a third company consisting entirely of foreigners - N. Transa, Oxid and two other unknown personalities. The official calls himself Emperor Velo and explains that he has caught random participants to make fun of local spectators. He sets a condition - the team that wins the racing tournament will be free and will be able to forget what happened as a terrible dream. However, if the heroes refuse to participate, he snaps his fingers to destroy the Earth and return there will be problematic. Realizing that arguing with this guy makes no sense, both sides accept the challenge. However, here is another important detail - in order to win the tournament, the teams will have to overtake his fastest drivers, and finally, the Velo himself.

The plot in Crash Nitro Kart is absurd, devoid of logic, but rather cheerful. He does not pretend to squeeze out tears or impose any moral values. He's made to be entertaining, and he's doing his job quite well.

Another thing is that the new characters look a little too strange. An Indian leader with a blue belly and a monkey face named Krank, who has racist tendencies and is trying to prove that his planet is better than the Earth. A passionate and constantly tense representative of a kind of sharks with a tricked-out helmet with a built-in laser on his head named Nash. He's pretty confident and obviously has some disagreements with Big Bang. Gary's raging and cleaning nutty robot. The villains stand out against the general background, they are charismatic, but lose to the same of Crash Team Racing. Krank is an alien copy of Papa-Papa, and Nash is remotely reminiscent of a mentally ill blue kangaroo. Oxid's allies, Zam and Earth, are impersonal and almost transparent against the background of the rest, as if made for a number.
