In the middle of the zeroes there was the third race with agile marsupial. Contrary to expectations, it offered a completely different gaming experience than in Crash Team Racing, despite the fact that it had a very similar name and hinted at a connection with the original. An uneducated user can easily count these two games for the same one, released in different regions (for example, in Japan the release name is often different from the American one). But the difference between them is huge. Firstly, Crash Tag Team Racing was created a few years later. Secondly, it is not quite a race. There are not few platform sections, where Cresh has to move on his two. Third, it's more of a team game than a single one - the main thing here is to combine two cars into one. And, of course, the presence of new characters, history, design, music and game mechanics make the project Radical Entertainment absolutely different from the creation of Naughty Dog. The release of the game took place in 2005 and was received by the audience in a different way. Critics mainly praised the ingenuity of the developers, but were disappointed with the strange and flat design of the tracks. The disrespect was also given to the downloads, which were called infinitely long and annoying. Finally, the wet moldings were given a low level of difficulty. Critics resented the fact that even at a difficult level it was easy to win. It killed any interest in passing. Are all these attacks justified? Or de Crash Tag Team Racing is the case when the generation is just under-aged to realize the genius of the work? We'll find out!
Plot
The introductory video begins with an imitation of a TV show in which two sports bird commentators talk about the Ebenezer Von Klatch race tournament. Once upon a time, a green little cyborg named Von Klatch created a racing theme park. Unfortunately, the energy stones the park worked on and Ebenezer himself were stolen by an unknown person. Well, since the stones are no longer in their rightful place, Von Klatchu has only twelve hours to live on backup power, otherwise he will shut down once and for all. To bring back to life the amusement park and its owner Ebenezer decides to find desperate riders.
Meanwhile, the roads are cut by two cars with familiar heroes. Kresh's team gets away from the bad guys chasing them. N. Jin shoots at the car Cresh, but because of the constant turns and misses the case. The heroes themselves do not notice how they get into the possession of Von Klatch and smack each other. The green cyborg immediately asks them for help. Neo Cortex is not interested in Ebenezer's offer at first, but when he briefly mentions that the park, which has found energy stones, will get at its disposal, instantly changes its opinion to the contrary. In addition, N. Gene gives the idea that this park can be used as a new base of villains and only here they can get rid of pesky bandits. However, a third person, Pasadena O'Possum, a professional racer who was hired personally by Vaughn Klatch to guarantee his victory, is also involved in the race. Then another new hero appears in the frame - a giant revived vampa fruit named "Willie Vampa". Ebenezer presents him as a mascot of his park, as the vampa fruit juice is the specialty of the local visitors.
It's the beginning of history. I can't help but notice that the story here is charmingly crazy. He has a number of holes and lack of obvious motivation in some characters, but it seems that the developers laugh at themselves. They stick out the ill-conceived moments of the script and make a joke out of them. I always liked it when a person can laugh at himself!
There are a number of new characters in Crash Tag Team Racing! Many of them, however, you will not see anywhere else. We won't talk about two chickens of commentators - they are funny guys, but they don't take part in the story and the game itself. Pasadena, as I said, is a professional racer and has won dozens of races. She looks like a typical village woman in her image. Afterwards, Pasadena starts to be friends with the Kresh team, and seems to have a little more feelings for the bandit than a normal friendship. He, however, safely avoids it.
Ebenezer Von Klatch creates the impression of a villain who has planned something, but continues to behave as if nothing had happened. And yet, despite his suspicious appearance, he is a positive hero. Although not everyone loves him. For example, he has long been the subject of a grudge by park workers, to whom he pays an abominably low salary. Finally. Willie Wampa is a giant talking fruit with a faucet instead of a nose. He often speaks poetry and scares a lot of people who see him. Even Cortex hides behind his comrade-in-arms when he first sees him.
The ensemble of characters is quite interesting and unusual. As for old friends, not everybody found a place at this celebration of life. For example, Aku Aku does not appear here. About such characters as the Pope,
Pinstripe and Nitrus Brio can be forgotten here. In Crash Tag Team Racing N. Jean is shown to be an absolute psycho who makes you laugh to the bone. Someone found this change of character offensive, because during the games of Naughty Dog, he was a pretty scary and smart enemy. Here, too, he was made into the second Ripper Ru. Personally, I wasn't too embarrassed - the good thing about joking with him was much funnier than what Die-O-Rama was offering.
