Gameplay

So it's time to plunge into madness. The current Kresh is not the bandit he claims to be. On your way there will be a minimum of a vampire of fruit and wooden boxes, and the ability to spin a whirlpool will not be necessary for the game. "But without all these features, Kresh is not Kresh, is it? And you will be right. Suddenly, the bandit learned not to wave his fists badly, collecting blows in deadly combinations. Moreover, the developers have been globally revised system of health protagonist. From now on, Kresh did not die of one contact with the enemy - now he was given a full strip of life. However, taking into account the change of genre, this decision looks quite honest. Our task is still a journey through the closed locations from point A to point B, only the locations themselves have become prohibitively wider and longer.

The platform part has not left, but has gotten diluted by obligatory sections with murder of crowd of enemies in the manner of God of War and even with it. You are artificially locked on a certain area of the map and you can't continue until you get even with a hordes of titans. Personally, such surprises have always seemed to me a measure taken solely to stretch the short game. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea if it were properly implemented. But, unfortunately, every such moment differs from the previous one purely outwardly, which makes you yawn for the second hour of the game. Insane monotony of fights makes Crash of the titans game, the purpose of which is not entertainment, but a test of the player's strength. Personally, I'm used to correlating games with something that relaxes and takes you away from everyday problems, rather than stressing and spoiling your nerves.

Oh, yes, the most important thing. If Kresh has learned to wave his fists, then he'll have to hit someone, right? There are plenty of boys to beat up here. Minions of Cortex are easily killed by one sword, there is no problem with him, unless you let them bunch up. The problem is with bigger opponents - the so-called "titans". These are huge monsters, irradiated by Dr. Cortex's laser and turned into an ugly mixture of several animals. There are many of them and they are all different, but most of all I remember the bizarre symbiosis of scorpion and gorilla, called "scorphorilla". I have to hand it to you - the guys approached the task with all the wit. Every time you meet these monsters, you must attack them as actively as possible. At the same time, a scale of painted stars appears over the heads of enemies. If they are painted to the end, the monster falls into the prostration, and a cunning bandit and Aku-Aku can take advantage of this by riding the monster. By capturing the mind and control of the beast, you can control its movements, forcing it to fight against its own kin. Of course, each type of titanium has its own characteristic - one fast, but not powerful enough, and the other is the opposite, clumsy, but has a crushing force. Competently using titans in battles, you can very deftly win all. Finally, titans have their own scale, which when filled activates a special attack of crushing power.

"Size doesn't matter," you say. Yes, you might be right any other way, but not here. In Crash of the titans size plays a significant role, if not leading. You see, the bigger your opponent is, the harder it is to defeat. In addition, some species may have immunity in the tattooed cams of Cresh. In order to defeat these bastards, you must first stun the smaller titanium, climb onto its back, and they already fight against the big enemy. By the way, the same technique works perfectly with the bosses. Well, finally, the most pleasant thing you can hear from me in this review - giant monsters and even bosses can be ridden too! It should be understood that as soon as the bandit comes down from the past monster, it will immediately throw off the horses. He will give an oak. It will play in a box. He will die.

Vampa fruits, as I mentioned earlier, began to meet less frequently, but their usefulness has only increased! Now, eating each such fruit, the strip of health of our hero is replenished and gets a virgin look. And we can also collect a large number of "mojo" balls, which are hunted by Neo Cortex. For twenty-five thousand we are given an extra life. Yay? Yay!

By the way, you will lose your lives very often. The complexity of the last levels is comparable to "Road to nowhere" from the very first part. But if we had to count on every jump on the suspension bridge there, we'd have to hit the joystick buttons fiercely here, praying that the titanium we needed would soon go into oblivion. Initially, we are given three lives. If you lose them, welcome to the beginning of the level. And the levels take an average of fifteen minutes, instead of just under two minutes in classic games.

Also on each level you can find a hidden portal, where you will be forced to collect as much mojo as possible or destroy enemies in the allotted time. If you get a good result, you'll get a voodoo doll. You can also get a variety of puppets for the usual level. Depending on how many enemies you've killed, how long the combination of blows you've made and whether you've found hidden collectibles, you'll get a bronze, silver or gold doll. Don't worry, there is no platinum doll here, so you won't have to suffer much. "What the hell do we need all these dolls for, we've grown out of that age! Not for a reason. All their essence is in opening of conceptual drawings, yes to a new costume of a bandit. And if Crash of the titans had been released in 2017, these buns would have been simply stuck into additional content for a fee. It's business!

In total, the game has two dozen levels, conditionally divided into six zones. Graphics is well developed. The picture is saturated with bright colors and gives a pleasant aftertaste. Personally, I am very pleased with the traditional humor with the play of words in the names of levels. For example, the first level sounds like a clear reference to the fourth episode of Star Wars; the fourth clearly hints at the second part of Indiana Jones's resemblances, and the penultimate one to Stephen Spielberg's "Special Opinion".

But no matter how many pleasant innovations I've noticed about Radical Entertainment, it's impossible to turn a blind eye to the fact that the game quickly gets tired of monotonous actions and is too far removed from all the canons of the series. And if the last newly arrived fans can easily swallow, but endless fights are unlikely to please anyone. The platform part is also present here, although it is not as fascinating as before.

There is also a cooperative regime here. However, for some reason, the second player controls the white hair Kresh clone from nowhere. And this is not explained in any way. Just a chip for the sake of a chip. If you like to play more complicated games, I do not advise you to play in pairs with a friend - it's much easier for the two of you to deal with the enemy or collect the desired mojo.
