Vienna Phenomenon: come back here again and again

What makes you return to the same city again and again?

Sometimes this is a pleasant sensation of recognition: "Oh, I remember everything here ... look, the desserts in the window changed places!". Not so often - a thought that you catch by chance somewhere in the depths of consciousness: "I am at home." And no matter how far your hometown is. Quite rarely, as an exception, rather, an understatement prompts you to return, as if you had missed something on your last visit, you could make out, but you could not. That's what happened with Vienna. But now the Austrian capital has firmly established itself in the list of favorite cities! The secret is simple: Vienna is a place where all the senses rest.

Take a look. Local architecture (if we talk about the center) delights and insinuatingly whispers one word from all sides: "Luxury".

Straight lines and a single style dominate, the city is saturated with air and light.

Luxury in its modern presentation is also in the works of the famous architect Hundertwasser, who, as you know, was of the opinion that a person feels much better in conditions close to natural. What does the minimum number of straight lines mean - this is such a paradox.

If you are a man of art, then all the museums in Vienna are at your service. And their number is such that, even visiting one at a time, one will have to linger for several months. But art has stepped far beyond the boundaries of storage: art objects organically fit into the surrounding reality.

Lacking review and sense of flight? Welcome to any of the many viewing platforms. My favorites are the Glorietta Triumphal Arch in Schönbrunn, the Danube Tower and Mount Kalenberg.

There is also a good overview in St. Stephen's Cathedral, but I like this monumental building for another reason. Have you seen the glare of his stained glass windows?

Vienna is a pleasant and well-groomed city at any time of the year.

In winter, many Christmas decorations please the eye, and in summer the greenery of parks and rose gardens beckons.

Add for completeness the decorously bearing wide Danube. By the way, about water - here you can drink it directly from the tap, as Vienna from year to year holds high positions in the rankings for the title of the most environmentally friendly city in the world.

And, of course, the guest of the city can be fascinated by the sparkle of Swarovski crystals.

Listen up. Talking about the connection between Vienna and music is the same as talking about its many museums: the topic is inexhaustible. However, sounds and melodies will accompany everywhere.

My most vivid impression will be the well-known motive played by a street musician on a warm summer evening somewhere in the city center. So much so ... it was appropriate and natural that goosebumps run around the skin even now when I am writing this note. Hearing the music that appeared here several centuries ago is something in it.

But the sounds of Vienna are not only classics. The observation deck of the Danube Tower has its own special atmosphere. True, in order to plunge into it, you need to go up in an elevator with a glass ceiling (speed - six meters per second). The sensations are funny: you see how you rush somewhere upwards, and at the same time you are laying your ears. But then at an altitude of 155 meters, where in the off-season and in the evening there is not a soul at all, you look at the city flickering below, hear unobtrusive modern music (what is commonly called easy listening) and feel how boundless joy awakens in you.

Eat it. The Austrians are extremely fond of eating and do not deny themselves this pleasure. Even despite the high prices in Vienna, it’s hard to stay hungry, there are institutions for every taste and budget: from typical heurigers, where they will offer the simplest and most satisfying food, combined with homemade wine, to gourmet coffee shops with a compulsory culture of coffee. And also, what is there to hide, the crowns are very fond of sweets. Sometimes it’s scary to go to local pastry shops: the brain refuses to focus and choose something specific. And so it turns out the standard set: a slice of Sacher cake, Mozart sweets (in red wrap, industrial production, for blue candy wrappers and handmade work - in Salzburg) and candied violets, according to legend, beloved by the Empress Sissy (who is still adored here )

Touch. There are a lot of things in Vienna that you can’t see with your eyes, you literally feel it with your skin. No matter how modern the city may seem, do not give in. History is here at every turn. Many of these streets went: Franz Schubert, and Sigmund Freud, and Gustav Klimt, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart ... But that fiakr, which appeared in the stream of cars and bicycles, seemed to have cashed out by chance from another era ... By the way, about the rules traffic: it is better to observe them for personal safety. If the cyclist knocks you on "his territory", it will be you who are to blame, and any local resident of respectable age will gladly reproach you in German for crossing the road to red.
