- What is your profession?

- Fitness trainer!

Such an answer always arouses keen interest, and even admiration. The profession is really interesting, lively, and, recently, very popular. But, to become a truly sought-after fitness trainer with a good salary, athletic appearance and a friendly smile is not enough, you need to have special knowledge, have work experience and a desire to constantly develop and improve.

Features of the profession of fitness instructor:

1. The work of a fitness trainer implies constant communication with a large flow of people, a huge emotional return. A trainer is a person who is able to explain, teach and give professional advice. Be patient, as every day you will have to competently answer the same questions and correct similar errors, while always remaining friendly and welcoming.

2. Be prepared not only to explain, but also regularly show clients the exercises on themselves. Constant physical activity will allow you to keep yourself in good shape all the time, but you should forget about fatigue.

3. Continuous development is the key to career growth. In order to be in demand, the trainer should be interested in the latest in fitness, read professional literature, communicate with colleagues, attend lectures and seminars. As a rule, development requires additional financial investments;

4. In order for clients to be constant, training should not be boring and monotonous, it is necessary to show imagination and prepare each lesson in advance;

5. As a rule, the running time at the fitness club is evening. So, when most people have a working day ends, the fitness trainer only begins. On the other hand, you yourself can choose a schedule that is convenient for yourself and normalize the number of training sessions per month. Most often, the trainers are former athletes or advanced customers of the fitness club. They already have personal experience, good physical fitness, certain knowledge and skills. Of course, it will be much easier for such people to master the profession of a coach. Therefore, first of all, it is worth being in the role of a client. Having gained personal training experience, it is necessary to master basic disciplines, such as anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, theory and methodology of training construction, dietetics and psychology, as well as kinesiology. As a rule, fitness clubs do not require a diploma of higher physical education, therefore, it is enough to complete special courses for trainers and get the appropriate certificate. Such courses are often organized on the basis of a fitness center, and, in case of successful passing the final exam, they offer employment to their best students. Courses are narrow-profile (that is, you will be a specialist in a particular fitness area) and universal (they are trained by universal instructors, general trainers). If you have decided which direction you want to lead, it is better to start by studying a narrow profile and develop in the selected industry. Becoming a professional in one thing will be easier than trying to cover everything at once. In the future, you will expand your professional horizons, learn new classes and introduce them to work. If you don’t have any specific preferences yet, you should get basic knowledge in several areas of fitness. Fitness trainer courses will help you choose the type of training you like and give a general idea of the different training formats, which will serve as a good basis for further work.
