And now smoothly proceed to the origin of Bolto.

The cartoon itself does NOT say which of Bolto's parents is a wolf, and who is a dog.

As the team working on the first film admitted, the desire to make the protagonist half-wolf and half-dog was to give the character complexity, internal conflict, and to make much more interesting.

And again, the fact that the White Wolf is in no way connected with Bolto by blood ties, and that the scene with the White Wolf symbolized the acceptance of himself and his true nature, is also clearly indicated by the words of Simon Wells in "The story of the creation of the cartoon", where he speaks about the character Bolt like this:

“To give Bolto’s character a special appeal, so that the audience feels connected and walks with the character, we made him half a dog, half a wolf. First, Bolto rejects and denies the wolf part of his nature. But over time, he realizes that it’s the wolf half that will help him succeed "

This is how he succeeds in the end.

And the theme of the plot was understanding and accepting the differences.

Refrain now from exclamations:

"But it’s in this sequel! But the veil of this sequel is dead!"

Let’s take now only the first film. Imagine that there are no sequels (and should not). All the same, Simon Wells said that Bolto's father was a wild wolf, and his mother was a working sledding from Nome, the gander Boris found little Bolto in Nome as a rogue puppy and began to take care of him (i.e. Bolto was born in Nome).

And ... that explains a lot.

This is logical, reasonable, believable and understandable.

This explains why Bolto hangs around among people and dogs, explains Bolto’s craving to run in a team, this explains why he always feared and avoided wolves, this explains why Bolto grew up uncertain and timid, and this also explains where all the people come from ( and Bolto himself) know that he is a half-breed (and where did he get the name given by people and known to people).

So, why then did the creators of the sequels consider the wolf to be the mother?

Some will say, but Steele insulted Bolto’s mother and imitated a howl (“Bolto, I received a message for your mom!”), Which means she’s a wolf.

Yes, he insulted, but this in no way can be at least some evidence.

First of all, husky and malamutes also adore howling like wolves.

Secondly, his howl is a humiliating mockery of the fact that Bolto's mother ran with the wolves and fell in love with one of them, also bringing a puppy from a wild beast.

It’s not for nothing that the malamute arrogantly says to Jenna who has sent him off: “Probably you like the wolf more! ..”, as if provoking a red-haired husky who smiled a moment at the homeless half-breed.

And in such a context, “Hey, bastard! Your mother with the wild barbarian“ walked ”! A message from the wild barbarian!

May she“ walk ”with us, eh ?!” Steele’s phrase sounds much more offensive, cynical and believable, and also explains Bolto’s outburst of anger. And this is far from harmless compared to simply mimicking a wolf (or dog) howl.

Thirdly, Steele’s motivation in this scene was only a desire to insult Bolto and no more. He did not know anything about Bolto.

It’s just that the self-confident badass cleared and found a weak spot in his potential rival - an insecure rival reacts very painfully to comments towards his origin and does not enjoy the confidence of the majority of Nome’s inhabitants that he can be used against him (which the arrogant Malamute did three times for the whole cartoon).

This is the simplest psychology. There is no background here, supposedly de Steele hates wolves and half-breeds.

It’s just that an opponent stood in his way, from whom he must get rid.
