Why not? Everything is simple. I was traveling with my daughter, and she immediately warned: no sights, no food, no sleep, no rest. That is, to walk, drink mulled wine at Christmas markets and eat ribs. Well, so be it, one museum.
Hofburg
We flew through Istanbul, which is very convenient, additional duty free along the road.
Arriving in Vienna, we briskly headed to station S-7. A transport pass purchased from a home on the site. Since we flew out on Monday, the weekly pass was the most suitable. It was only necessary to pay extra for the second zone 2.20. We cheerfully went to the machine, and there is no such one, we found an option for 2.30, and bought it. Where is there to understand when the train is 10 minutes?
As it turned out, the information is incorrect. It was necessary to choose an option to the border of the city. This is only 1.70.
In any case, we got to Mitte, took the metro and went directly to Karlsplatz. Quarter to the right - Opera, quarter to the left - our apartment.
I thought, housing in the center, just go out, and immediately Ah! And no, not ah. Here I look, and nothing.
Somehow I did not immediately glance.
It was then that I realized that I had to stop looking at Vienna as a whole, and focus on the details. Look at this owl. The beauty, right?
I do not like the imperial style? Well, it is not necessary! A great miracle remained from former glory in the capital - Viennese cafes. We sat wherever we could, and I didn’t have enough. So not enough that I will go again.
Vienna is a city of hedonists. Here they eat deliciously and elegantly dress. Young people can dance in the subway and have fun on the streets without much noise.
And I’ll write about the Christmas markets separately when I count how much we went around them. And not all had time! And not all types of punch have been tried. It seems to me, in principle, impossible.
All plans flew into tartaras, because everything that was planned was boring and not interesting. And fun, it's when your eyes look. And we even found a restaurant with a surprise.
Where did you see the restaurant without a menu? The price of a 3-course dinner is known in advance, but no one knows what will be served there?
And how can we get around the whole city if we managed to spend the whole day in the area of one metro station, without going further than 6-7 quarters?
And an unexpected walk along the Mariahilfer Strasse, in general, was a great pleasure.
But, strangely enough, we did not get only 4 places that I wanted to see, not counting the two palaces, where my daughter refused to go categorically. Do you know why?
The Austrians do not sit at all, and drink punch and beer while standing. There are practically no benches on the streets, only in parks. There’s no chance there will be chairs on the palace interiors, Janka said. And my legs are not iron and I can’t walk for 9 hours without a break, if I'm not interested.
I had to confine myself to visiting Hofburg from the outside. And here's the funny thing. When Yana saw the building of the Museum of Natural History, she spent half an hour on a careful examination.
She noted both Noah and Moses. I did not forget Africa and Asia. I looked at the inscriptions on the pediment. And, if the first name was not recognized, then the rest made it possible to understand the concept.
But she barely looked at the Hofburg buildings with the words: everything is the same.
And she demanded to come up with something more interesting. Imperial crypt, for example.
And after the next market and have dinner.
It so happened that I did not like Vienna, but I liked Vienna.
