About Viennese coffee and cafes

Оглавление

We came to watch Christmas Vienna, so there were no sights, my daughter told me, and limited: one palace and one museum. And she added one church to the list. But local cafes and restaurants were not considered a landmark (and in vain!), So they were visited with enviable regularity.

Cafe "Museum"

We immediately decided: we won’t save, we don’t have breakfast at home. There is a cafe in Vienna for this. Oh, those Viennese coffee houses! According to statistics, each resident of the city drinks 3 cups a day, and even with one coffee you can sit from morning until close: eat, drink, read a newspaper, work on a computer. Internet is fast and easy to connect. Yes, it’s warm and cozy.

Of course, the first one on the list was Sacher.

Cafe "Sacher"

Not the oldest, but one of the most famous institutions. Yes, and a 5-minute walk from the apartment, just behind the Opera.

What do you say? The walls are upholstered with red cloth, a lot of gold, mirrors.

The story in the photos on the walls, the story of the brand on the menu. Crystal chandeliers even in the toilet.

But this is secondary, we came here to have breakfast. And breakfast, for a minute, costs 35 euros. But it includes a glass of champagne, juice, coffee, cake, croissants, toasts, ham, red fish, two balls of white cheese.

Another avocado salad in a glass. In any case, I thought so. It turned out poached eggs in avocado sauce.

Tasty and sophisticated. We ordered more coffee and divided everything into two. Total 45 euros with a tip. Coffee and cake would cost us almost the same amount.

Below is a little shop.

A small jar of jam cost 8 euros. (3 of them were included in our breakfast, we took them with us)

A few words about coffee: it is simply luxurious here. Delicious whipped cream, which is poured with liquor and chocolate, and even with a touch of coffee.

Cafe "Museum", coffee "Mozart"

By the way, the coffee itself is mediocre, odorless, if you drink black or expresso, it is better not to order it.

In this case, spit on the flavor and go to a cheap Italian eatery. Here is one, for example.

Large selection of sandwiches and coffee smell per quarter.

Day Two - Cafe Museum. The same soft sofas as in Sacher, no less pleasant atmosphere. Luxury in the art deco style, without glitter and gilding.

Even Christmas decorations are original. In any case, I have never seen an inverted Christmas tree anywhere else.

They say that in no other cafe there were as many geniuses as in this one. However, Klimt was enough for me. Large selection of breakfasts and there is the opportunity to collect your own. Coffee is no less luxurious, and alas, no more delicious.

Breakfast for two 30 c something euro with a cake, but without champagne.

However, such an option was also.

I was pleased with the opportunity to try three types of cake instead of one for a slightly higher price.

We even thought of coming here again.

The network coffee shop Aida pleased with the prices, a large selection of breakfasts and delicious coffee. That is, it was not only beautiful and magnificent, but also welded, as it should.

They do not have a big name and old roots, how else can you attract visitors? It was chosen because of the good location at the transfer point, so as not to waste extra time on the road. 25 euros for two, it was possible to eat and cheaper.

Empress Elizabeth's favorite pastry shop, Demel.

Cafe Demel

Oh and ah! The supplier of the imperial court. Taught by bitter experience, we did not order coffee in a place where it does not smell. But hot chocolate and breakfast at the highest level. With champagne, but what about ...

And service like nowhere else. A lot of wood, crystal and gold, but without too much sheen.

On the ground floor there is a pastry shop behind glass.

You can see how cakes are made. It is worth going up to the second floor and you are in an oasis of peace and quiet.

But dessert is not included in breakfast. You have to get up, go to the window and choose the cake yourself. And then sit down and wait for it to be brought.

Honestly, I thought that we won’t get there, and I prepared a fallback: Mozart cafe, in the same place, next to Hofburg.

In general, the more famous the coffee house, the more expensive. But not the fact that it is better. Lesser known sites should do more to lure visitors. So the prices are lower and the coffee is better, and the food is simpler.

Only without coffee shops Vienna is not Vienna.
