" read the letter, my heart is warm.I did not think, a reputed medical doctor, even to my young nameless little doctor personally wrote back.
In November 1986, my second draft of my book, sexual psychology.According to China's regulations at that time, with the " sex " of the book, only people's health publishing house, people's Military Medical Publishing House, China Science and technology press and Shanghai Science and technology press can be published.I sent the manuscript to the people's Military Medical Publishing House and asked them to review it.A month later, the preliminary hearing was completed.They said the book could only be published after it had been reviewed by Professor Wu.Later, the head of the people's Military Medical Publishing House gave the manuscript to Professor Wu.I was very touched by the fact that Professor Wu did not rest during the Spring Festival holiday in 1987.Not only corrected the typo, even the wrong punctuation are changed.After the review, wrote three review comments.I remember that Professor Wu wrote at the beginning: "the book of sexual psychology is very important for the development of sexual knowledge and moral education.But at present, such books are not or not at all.So, my overall desire is to help the book to be published."Professor Wu's words affirmed the value of the book in general, clarified the intention of publishing, and gave me great encouragement.
According to the national conditions at that time, Professor Wu put forward a lot of pertinent amendments to the book.I was most impressed with this paragraph: "the author of the book is a young doctor.From the perspective of clinical treatment, he proposed a detailed psychological behavioral therapy program for all types of sexual dysfunction and sexual perversion, and attached a number of cases.I do not think that these cases should be published in public at this time, so as not to create an excuse for capitalist countries to attack our socialist system...."To tell the truth, when I saw this section, I do not understand, and feel very wronged.As work progressed, I became more and more aware that Professor Wu was protecting young scholars in a special way.
Although some grievances in my heart, I still in accordance with Professor Wu Jing Ping review comments and the people's Army Medical Publishing House recommended that the "sexual psychology" made substantial changes, delete all clinical cases.The original 400,000 words, but also cut to about 200,000 words.The title of the book was also changed to " the exploration of sexual psychology."However, the people's Army Medical Publishing House eventually did not dare to publish the book.I also sent to Shanghai Science and technology publishing house Professor Wu Ji ping's review comments and revised manuscript.While waiting for publication, the manuscript was printed as a handout for the first National Training Course on sexual mental health (1987).The book was eventually published by the Shanghai Science and technology Press in 1989.
