Self-knowledge is a necessary condition for us to find our place in this life.
I'm talking, first of all, about knowing your strengths and weaknesses. Where one easily succeeds, the other will be for years to mark time because of some of their personal characteristics.
Where everyone fails, someone may find some unexpected approach that will ensure his success.
If a person is terrified of heights, then perhaps he should not try to become a climber. Perhaps he will succeed in something of his own. Unfortunately, quite often people try to enter the closed gates.
They work in a field in which they have neither the ability nor the love for their work. As a result, a person is always forced to feel good for nothing. And all because he does not know himself.
Imagine a car about which there is no documentation. You sit in it with your eyes closed, and he goes somewhere. You do not know the make of the car, nor its purpose, nor how to drive it, nor its speed characteristics. And most importantly, you do not have the ability to manage it, someone is towing it. So is our life.
Until we have the courage to remove the blindfold, we can do nothing with our lives. And the bandage to remove scary, suddenly have to accept something bad?
How to know yourself?
In order to know yourself, you need to analyze your own life. In what situations everything turned out as it should? The situations in which people have failed? Once a person answers these questions, and the fun begins.
Many can't go any further because they don't want to take full responsibility for everything that happens to them.
After all, in order to go further, you need to answer the question “What was it in me that made me act in this way and led me to this situation?”.
When a person honestly answers this question, he learns a lot of unpleasant things about himself. There chickened out, there was lazy, there gave up, there was rude and so on.
It is difficult for a person to accept such things in himself, so people usually deny them in themselves. And in vain, because they lose the opportunity to learn to use their lives.
The ability to recognize all their negative and positive sides opens up prospects for a person. "Yes, I am, but I fully accept myself." Only after a person has accepted himself, before him there is an opportunity to do something with his life, based on the inherited opportunities.
Until a person does this, he will deny reality, and therefore will not be able to formulate what he wants from life. And without a goal, no forward movement is possible.
Knowing your strengths and weaknesses
We're all different. Someone is good at working hard and systematically, and another person is good at generating new ideas and meanings. Someone knows how to keep the audience perfectly, and the other in the quiet of the office or in the laboratory moves science.
What we are is a 90% reality, from which there is no escape. We can only adapt, use what is given to us in the best way.
There's no point in pretending to be someone else. It is much better to know yourself and answer the questions “ " Who am I?", "What am I?"What do I want?”. By answering these questions, you can make a realistic plan how to achieve your goal.
In the process of learning your personality, it is very important not to lie to yourself and not to take other people's opinions about us for reality. No one knows us like we do. Each person has a potential that you just need to open.
I've had clients say, "I'm a loser,” “I'm lazy,”" I'm not worthy, " and so on. In most cases, it turned out to be an opinion imposed on them.
An opinion that kept them from even trying. But when I talked to them, I noticed that each of them had a huge talent in something, but because of their uncertainty did not even try to offer their talent to the world.
But once they understood themselves, understood their strengths and weaknesses, their lives changed dramatically.
Not instantaneously, but for year-year and a half people did more, than for entire previous life. When you see something like that, it's very inspiring. That's probably why I love my job so much.
