What to do if I fail the exam? Do not panic! We analyze all the options for correcting the situation

Оглавление

Hello! You are on the channel All or nothing, thanks for reading me! Glad to see you and enjoy reading!

The article is subjective and expresses the personal opinion of the author.

The exam in geography and literature was passed first this year, the results will be June 5-6. Nobody knows their scores yet, some exams have yet to be passed. I see that the need has ripened to write this article, since several times I heard an alarming question from my students: “What if I don’t give up?”

Just yesterday, one graduate was interested in the terms of retake profile mathematics. It turned out that because of the excitement, she incorrectly filled out the answer form, starting from the fifth task. I solved the tasks, perhaps correctly, but the points will be awarded without taking into account the drafts. If she really messed up something when filling out the forms, then the chance of not overcoming the minimum score threshold increases. I reassured the girl, because the situation is not at all as catastrophic as it seems to her and many graduates. Lay out each case with me on the shelves, then the constructive confidence that there are no hopeless situations will replace the alarm.

Waiting for results: pan or gone

To begin, let's decide how much this year we need to wait for the publication of results for each subject. The deadlines for examinations are always regulated by regulatory documents. The order of conducting the GIA contains exact numbers of how many calendar days (that is, along with days off) the experts need to check: basic mathematics - 9 days, specialized mathematics - 10, Russian - 12, all subjects of choice - 10. This is the maximum period, most often, verification ends one to two days earlier.

Deadlines for exam testing in 2019 (what date the results will come):

  • Geography - no later than June 11.
  • Literature - no later than June 11.
  • Basic mathematics - no later than June 11th.
  • Profile mathematics - no later than June 12.
  • History - no later than June 14.
  • Chemistry - no later than June 14.
  • Russian language - no later than June 20.
  • A foreign language - no later than June 24 (a common result will come: both for the written and oral parts).
  • Physics - no later than June 24.
  • Social Studies - no later than June 25.
  • Biology - no later than June 27.
  • Informatics and ICT - no later than June 27.

Once again, I repeat that, most likely, the work will be checked earlier than the specified dates. If you have reason to think that for some reason you did not pass the exam, I advise you not to be upset ahead of time. Yes, it happens that fears are not unfounded, but there are no hopeless situations. While we are doing our best not to cheat ourselves and wait for the results.

Suddenly I will not receive a certificate?

Graduation dates have already been announced. In Moscow, for example, graduations will be held on June 21, in St. Petersburg "Scarlet Sails" are scheduled for June 23. Why are these dates so important? Firstly, this is a holiday for which many prepare and wait (especially girls, of course). But we are now interested in another aspect: will you receive a certificate if you do not pass some exam. Everyone knows that certificates are issued precisely on graduation days, which means that by the end of June you must successfully pass the certification in order to get the coveted crust with an insert.

The first good news: if you did not pass the exam by choice, then you will still receive a certificate, since only your success in two required exams is relevant for certification. Optional exams are required for admission to universities. At the exam in basic mathematics you need to get at least three, in profile mathematics score at least 27 test points, in Russian - at least 24 test points.

The second good news: the exam in the Russian language is difficult to fill up. This exam is objectively far from the most difficult. Last year, for example, only 0.4% of high school students did not pass the threshold of minimum points in the USE in the Russian language. The Russian language also traditionally takes the first place every year in the number of hundred students. In 2018, 3,722 people received 100 points (out of 6136 in all subjects). In any case, if you passed the math, and you received an unsatisfactory result in the Russian language, you can rewrite the exam in the Russian language in 2019 on June 26. If you don’t pass the second time, the last attempt is September 3rd.

The third good news: basic maths are getting better every year, which means that the chance to get a deuce in 2019 is very small. In 2018, 3.1% of graduates did not pass the basic exam in mathematics. At the same time, the average score for the country last year was 4.29. Some excellent students and good guys!

The fourth good news: if you fail math (no matter what level), then you can rewrite it twice. The core exam in mathematics is one of the most difficult exams. In 2018, only 145 graduates managed to score 100 points. 7% who passed this exam last year did not pass the minimum score threshold and went for a retake. There are many, of course, but in 2017 there were twice as many - as much as 14%. The good news is that in the event of a failure you have a large field for maneuver. Changing the practice of passing two math exams at once in 2018 (both the base and the profile) does not deprive you of a chance to fix everything in the event of a failure.

If you have not overcome the threshold of minimum scores on the exam in mathematics, you can retake it on a reserve day - June 24. Moreover, you can choose the exam level for retake: write the base or profile. If after the second attempt again a fiasco, then you can write a basic exam in mathematics on September 6th.

The main good news: if you retook the compulsory exam in the reserve day or in an additional period, then you get a certificate of secondary education. Positive results when you pass the mandatory state exam on a reserve day give you every chance to go to college this year.

This year I won’t do it anymore: what to do if I fail in the USE by choice

This situation is the most unpleasant, since the re-examination of the USE by choice on reserve days, unfortunately, is not provided. The order is such that retake is possible only after a year, but even here I advise you not to rush to conclusions. It is better to sit down and break down the situation into components.

Situation No. 1. The minimum threshold for the exam has optionally been overcome, but at the university the passing score is much higher

This is a fairly common situation. According to statistics, budget places every year are just over 50% of all allocated by the state. It seems that this is a lot and the chances to study for free are pretty good - 50 to 50. In fact, it’s more difficult, because not all budget places participate in the USE points contest.

The fact is that a substantial part of budget places has already been reserved in advance for winners and prize-winners of olympiads and the so-called goal-takers

These categories of applicants will fall into the orders for admission outside the main competition. That is, there is a competition, but it is relevant only among this group of graduates. When a university “cuts off” privileged places and a target set of the total number of budget places in each area of preparation, then much less than 50% remains.

In 2017, for example, the state allocated 575,000 budget places, of which more than 90,000 students were accepted under the targeted training agreement, the olympiads took 6,202 budget places (about 4,000 people were winners and prize-winners of university olympiads, the rest - Vseros). For those who enter only on the USE scores, the competition, of course, becomes tougher in this situation. What is the way out? There is no need to reinvent the wheel: either look for a higher education institution easier, or conclude a contract for paid tuition (there is always a more modest competition). I advise you to use the USE calculators to evaluate all the chances of admission.

Situation No. 2. Unified State Examination passed badly by choice and the minimum score threshold is not overcome

Here are the minimum USE test scores for elective subjects approved in 2019:

  • Social Studies - 42.
  • History - 32.
  • Physics - 36.
  • Chemistry - 36.
  • Biology - 36.
  • Geography - 37.
  • Informatics - 40.
  • Foreign language - 22.
  • Literature - 32.

Spend this year with maximum benefit for yourself: get ready for the USE better, and next year - again in battle. Young men, of course, are threatened with an autumn draft in the army, but there is a way out: we must remember that in your closet there is (and is gathering dust) a certificate for the ninth grade. This is your lifesaver. You have the right, on the basis of this document, to go to college at the university and receive a reprieve from the army.
