Pavlik once took Cat to the river to fish. But that day they were unlucky: the fish did not bite at all.
Cucumbers are a story
On the other hand, when they were walking back, they climbed into the collective farm garden and filled their pockets with cucumbers.
The collective guard noticed them and whistled them into the whistle. They ran away from him.
Boys running away from the guard
On the way home, Pavlik thought, no matter how much he got home for climbing through other people's gardens. And he gave his cucumbers to Cat.
The cat came home happy:
- Mom, I brought you cucumbers!
The cat brought cucumbers
Mom looked, and he has full pockets of cucumbers, and behind the sinus cucumbers lie, and in the hands of two more large cucumbers.
- Where did you get them? - says Mom.
- In the garden.
- What vegetable garden?
- There, by the river, on the collective farm.
- Who let you?
- Nobody, I picked it myself.
- So, he stole it?
Mom hands her son
- No, I didn't steal it, but it's just... Pavlik took it and I can't? Well, I took it.
The cat started to take cucumbers out of his pockets.
- Wait, wait, wait! Don't unload! - Mom says,
- Why is that? (Laughs)
- Bring them back now!
- Where will I take them? They grew up on the bed, and I ripped them off. Anyway, they won't grow anymore.
- It's okay, you take it and put it on the same bed where you picked it.
- Well, I'll throw them away.
- No, you won't! You didn't plant them, you didn't raise them, you can't throw them away.
The cat started to cry:
- There is a guard there. He whistled to us, and we ran away.
The boy cries
- You see what you're doing! What if he caught you?
- He wouldn't have caught up with you. He is already an old grandfather.
- Well, shame on you! - Mom says. - After all, grandfather is responsible for these cucumbers. They find out that the cucumbers are missing and say that grandfather is to blame. Will it be good?
Mom started to stick the cucumbers back in Cat's pocket. The cat cried and shouted:
- I will not go! Grandfather had a gun. He will shoot me and kill me.
- And let him kill me! I'd rather have no son than a thief's son.
- Well, come with me, Mommy! It's dark outside. I am afraid.
- Weren't you afraid to take it?
Mom gave Cat in her hands two cucumbers, which did not fit in her pockets, and took him out the door.
A kitten goes to the garden
- Either bring cucumbers or get out of the house, you're not my son!
The cat turned around and walked slowly down the street.
It was already very dark.
"I'll throw them here, in the ditch, and I'll tell you what I took, - decided Kotka and began to look around. - No, I will take it: someone else will see and Grandpa will get in trouble because of me.
He was walking down the street and crying. He was scared.
"Pavlik was fine! - Cat thought. - He gave me his cucumbers, and he is sitting at home. He must not be afraid.
Cat came out of the village and went to the field. There was no soul around him. Out of fear, he did not remember how he got to the garden. He stopped near the hut and cried louder and louder and louder.
The guard heard and approached him.
- What are you crying about? - asks.
- Grandfather, I brought cucumbers back.
- What cucumbers?
- And which Pavlik and I picked up. My mother told me to take the cucumbers back.
A boy and a guard
- That's what this is about! - the watchman was surprised. - That means I whistled to you, and you stole cucumbers after all. Not good!
- Pavlik took it, and I took it. He gave me his cucumbers too.
- And you don't look at Pavlik, you should understand. Well, don't do that again. Cucumbers and go home.
The cat pulled out the cucumbers and put them on the bed.
- Well, all that? - The old man asked.
- No... one is missing," Kotka answered and cried again.
- Why not, where is he?
- Grandfather, I ate one cucumber. What will happen now?
- Well, what will happen? Nothing will happen. I ate it, so I ate it. You are welcome.
- And you, grandfather, won't get anything for the fact that the cucumber is missing?
- What business are you in? - Grandfather smiled. - No, nothing will happen for one cucumber. If you hadn't brought the others, then yes, but no.
The cat ran home. Then suddenly stopped and shouted from afar:
- Grandfather, grandfather!
- Well, what else?
- And this cucumber that I ate, how will be reckoned - did I steal it or not?
- Um! - said my grandfather. - Here is another task! Whatever it is, let him not steal it.
- What about it?
- Well, consider that I gave it to you.
- Thank you, grandfather! I will go.
- Go, go, son.
The cat rushed all the way across the field, over the ravine, over the bridge over the creek and, in no hurry, went home to the village. He was happy at heart.
