JERICOCOARA...PARADISE LIVES HERE

As promised here is the first stage of the trip to Brazil that I made in August 2010. I would like to start from a place that is not in the classic tours but that has remained so much in my heart, during the trip on facebook to friends I wrote like this: "after a journey of hours and hours we arrive in Jeri on a pick up in the night with the moon guarding us ... in the morning the show that awaits us is of a beauty to say the least embarrassing: dunes of white sand, clouds of whipped cream and beach that stretch for miles and miles, here no one brings shoes and even the shops have sand floors" Jericocoara is not yet a fully known destination, but a real earthly paradise. From Rio, we took an internal flight to Fortaleza (even in Reggio agency had advised us to take the flight by plane from a local agency to reduce costs). Arriving at the airport we realized that the bus took more than six hours between dunes and sand so we relied on one of the many taxi drivers waiting for tourist

I would like to start from a place that is not in the classic tours but that has remained so much in my heart, during the trip on facebook to friends I wrote like this:

"after a journey of hours and hours we arrive in Jeri on a pick up in the night with the moon guarding us ... in the morning the show that awaits us is of a beauty to say the least embarrassing: dunes of white sand, clouds of whipped cream and beach that stretch for miles and miles, here no one brings shoes and even the shops have sand floors"

Jericocoara is not yet a fully known destination, but a real earthly paradise.

From Rio, we took an internal flight to Fortaleza (even in Reggio agency had advised us to take the flight by plane from a local agency to reduce costs). Arriving at the airport we realized that the bus took more than six hours between dunes and sand so we relied on one of the many taxi drivers waiting for tourists at the airport, the negotiation was long and exhausting but in the end, we managed to leave. The trip lasted four hours in the night on the last model off-road vehicle (I don't think any other car could have done it) but it was really worth it. Hot air came in through the window and a giant moon proudly stood out in the sky.

Finally, we arrived at the posada booked by phone the day before. What struck us most was finding sand everywhere, right up to the bedroom door. Tired of death, we reluctantly throw ourselves into a cot as they warn us that around two o'clock in the night a wonderful party would begin to the rhythm of rap music.

In the morning we wake up and realize that we are literally surrounded by sand and dunes everywhere.

What to do during a stay in Jeri?

Enjoy life sipping caipirinha on the beach lulled by the sound of the sea and the backwash of the morning waiting for the sun to come down to admire the spectacle from the great dune on which everyone climbs or face a walk of half an hour to get to Piedra Furada where in a pathway between two rocks fits perfectly in the setting a reddish sun.

Or rent a taxi-quoad and discover the nearby beaches sitting on horseback on the seats with the sun kissing you.

Don't miss out on the chance of the sunshine that can be admired from the main dune or after a walk to reach the Pedra furada.

Jericocoara is at the gates of the Lencois Maranheses, crystal clear freshwater lakes among white dunes or real oases.

But this is another story.
