What is intelligence in a cat?
What amazes us is when a cat, cut off from the access to the litter tray, goes to the human bathroom for a moment, and there peeing straight into the drain of the bathtub, without leaving a drop of urine outside its perimeter. The cat's intelligence is also an act of self-proclaimed pressure on the doorknob through which the cat wants to go outside despite the Lord's prohibition. The cat also knows where the litter tray is if it changes its position.
She quickly finds herself in a new place when she has to pee in a makeshift litter tray made of sand. You can let him go outside with a calm heart, he's hanging out among the grasses and trees, and then he'll come home at his beck and call without a leash that will help him find his way to him. The above examples clearly show that cat intelligence is a special kind. Everything that is in the service of cats' needs and on their way to their goals is perfectly-recognized, associated and linked by them to cause and effect relationships.
So it is intelligence that the cat develops and selects its content according to its own concept. Also in this field, the cat can be rather deaf to the owner's calls. A domestic cat can be taught certain behaviors, but this must be in accordance with itself. There are also legends that a domestic cat could be trained in the same way as a dog. However, this should be paid for with a lot of work and patience, as well as the awareness that the cat is an individual and independent animal, so if it does not want to do something, it is not because it does not have enough intelligence, but because it does not see in it any benefit for itself.
Trying to train the cat in some direction, we would have to be able to answer his question, which is: "What am I going to do with this meow? The compass of the cat's intelligence is, therefore, the snack expected as a result of its activation. If we want the cat to do something for us and he is sure that there is food at the end of the road, he will do the recommended action. On the other hand, the cat is a master of manipulation and perfectly trains a man to submit to the order of routine, which he sets for us.
The cat, associating its behavior with a given reaction from the owner, learns to repeat it in such a way as to cause the desired reaction of the Lord. If he notices that at night he is taken outside because of running on the bed, the next day he "beaks" with his claws on his legs so that the owner gets up and opens all the doors to the courtyard. Interestingly, regardless of which side of the bed we sleep on that night, who always "beaks" into our legs, which never confuse him with the head. So he understands the man and, above all, he feels his limits. This means that he has a kind of empathy towards him. He also perfectly recognizes the intentions of a person.
Cats also have short- and long-lasting memories.
They store new information for 16 hours and have memories that go back ten years. Probably cats also have dreams, as shown by the fast movements of the eyeballs during sleep, which occur in the human sleep phase. Although cats do not perform well in intelligence tests, they are not a measure of their wisdom. Just as they are not subject to leash, they are not subject to intelligence tests. And just as they find their way into their own home, they also measure their intelligence.
