From history.
Brushes as artistic tools of creativity and writing appeared many centuries ago. Presumably, it happened in China in the times of the appearance of writing. They were hard and made of animal bristles.
The first mentions of using brushes to apply makeup were also found in Asia: the actresses of the Japanese theatre "Kabuki", in which all the roles were played by women, applied a very bright make-up with the help of handmade devices made of natural pile. The brushes they used to create their images were called the same as the theatre itself. Their appearance is distinguished by a very short thick handle and thick soft pile with a rounded cut. In those days, kabuki was universal, but now it serves only for the application of powder or blush.
Nowadays, you can't do without one beauty tool: the basic set of brushes for make-up has expanded significantly with the appearance of various textures, cosmetics, and techniques of their application. In this article, you will learn what tools are necessary for a beginner and how to choose them correctly.
Pile types
It is wrong to think that only natural brushes can be of high quality and suitable for professional work. In fact, the preferred type of pile depends on the texture of the product, which is intended for a particular type.
Artificial
Nylon or taclone brushes are ideal for the application of cream products because they cannot absorb fat or moisture and are easy to clean. They are suitable for tones, consignees, lipsticks and other fatty products.
The main requirements for a synthetic brush are softness, smooth cut and assembly quality. When you slide your fingers over the brush, you shouldn't notice the hairs falling out, and the padding should be as tight as possible.
Squirrel and sable brushes are the most popular because of their inherent softness and ability not to irritate even sensitive skin.
Powder textures are best applied with brushes filled with goat hair, which is much fluffier and denser than others, both compact and crumbly.
If you need a universal natural brush for several types of dry products, choose a mixed pile (e.g. protein and pony).
