Business friends
Friends from Moscow opened a hookah network in Los Angeles. Lately, I spend my free time with them. I can’t say that they had it easy, but, as elsewhere, if there is money, then everything is possible. They got the necessary license through a lawyer - here is a non-smoking staff, and it’s a little difficult with hookahs.
This area is very strictly monitored. For example, in Hollywood, only three hookahs have a work permit. If one of them closes, another will not come in its place.
Another problem is finding a place to rent. Many do not want hookahs to smoke on their premises and spread the smells of coal and tobacco. But the acquaintances succeeded, and people walk, including local ones.
My business
And I would like to open a car service here. I brought this idea back from Moscow. At home, difficulties could arise with various authorities hanging over the soul, who always need money. Here you only need to pay for the license, and then no one else touches you - except, of course, competitors. The most important thing is to pay taxes on time. Better to owe a million to a bank than one dollar to the state. It will take you many times more.
At the moment, I do not have the necessary funds, but I hope that in a year and a half I will achieve my goal. To collect the necessary amount of money, I started a credit card a few months ago and regularly return the money taken on credit. This improves my credit history, which means that over time, the amount that I can borrow from the bank will grow. Somewhere in a year, they will be able to offer me one hundred thousand dollars, and in two - two hundred thousand.
And all this at a small percentage. Nobody has ever heard of our incredible interest here. So I am counting on the help of the bank.
Just be a good kid
If you end up in California and are not doing anything illegal, you are not deported from here. I have friends who got a visa, came here to relax and stayed. But, of course, you need to settle all the issues with the documents: get a green card and citizenship.
Another norm
There are a lot of strange people. 40 percent of the population, in principle, does not care what they look like. They don’t bother whether they put on the same socks. You can meet a very fat man in a superman costume. For some reason, many girls choose old-fashioned clothes. And others do not care either. Here, especially no one pays attention to this.
Very wealthy people may not wear expensive trinkets and drive ten-year-old cars. Americans do not really like it when someone shows off a lot.
The difference in ambition
It seems to me that the people who were born and raised here are very lazy and often do not strive for anything.
Once, on the beach in Santa Monica, I met an American woman who sits in the parking lot all day, and if a person doesn’t reach, she helps to put a ticket in the machine.
If you see a wealthy person - most likely, this condition was inherited by him. Because now the Californians are the laziest people in the USA. Of course, I could be wrong, but there are many of them. Especially when you compare what visitors and locals are seeking here.
What are they paying for?
Here, almost no one will see good repair at home, except for very wealthy people. The reason is that the work will cost half the cost of the living quarters. Any “hands” labor is paid very high.
I can’t say the same about cars. They are cheap here, and they are bought by everyone, almost any class. But repairing a purchased car can cost a pretty penny.
Everything related to any professional service is expensive. This influenced the fact that I want to open a car service here. According to my calculations, it will quickly pay off, in addition, there are not enough specialists in this area.
Local mechanics do not understand anything that is under the hood. Everyone I know agrees with this. It’s easier for them to take their thousand dollars and at the same time not provide quality service, having “prescribed” a very expensive repair to the owners.
Those repairs that would deprive you of a car for a week or two in Moscow are not performed here - the car just goes off the line. They are used to changing everything at once, not to repair or repair. The insurance covers the full cost of the car, and if it is taken on credit, it pays the owner the money, and that’s it. Nobody thinks about the service.
I have been fond of cars since my youth. Constantly delved into his own and sat in the friends' car service. And when I found out that the local mechanics do not know the things that even I know, I realized that with due persistence I have a future in this area.
