I am 21 years old. I was born and raised in Moscow. In April 2015, my brother and mother decided to move to Los Angeles County, the city of Burbank, where my father lived for about three years. At that time, many things coincided, and although I had the light of an incomplete higher education at the Moscow Aviation Institute, I decided it was better to leave. Firstly, they should have taken me into the army, which, honestly, I didn’t want at all. Secondly, I had a visa open until October, and I decided to use it.
My father received the green card through lawyers. He himself remained in the United States thanks to her. And thanks to the family unification program, we also managed to get it.
My brother and I are working, and mom went to study. She, like her father, has a great advantage in knowledge of the language - in Moscow, she taught English. He wants to become a medical professional, possibly a nurse.
In the near future, I want to move from Burbank to Glendale. There is not much difference between these cities, but I have to travel 80 kilometers daily to work and back, and I would prefer something closer.
Solar constancy
I need to stay in California for a year to become a resident and to study. Now I work in a car rental office: I design, issue and drive cars. No education is needed for this, anyone can get a place here.
At first, it was very cool and unusual: the ocean, constant heat and sun. After a few months, I was all sick of it and wanted to go back to Moscow, but this period also passed. I'm used to it. Now for a maximum of a couple of weeks, I would go home to meet with friends and relatives, take a little walk.
The weather is always beautiful here - this is a definite plus. The only thing that bothered me at first was the lack of friends. But instead of hanging out, I had time to explore the surroundings. By the way, for organizing small trips by car here are ideal conditions.
You can go in any direction, and after an hour of driving along the highway, you will find a beautiful place. So I traveled several times and even visited the place where the film “Blue Lagoon” 2012 was filmed. It is two hours drive from my house. Or you can go on a weekend trip to San Francisco. True, there are much cooler and a lot of men of non-traditional sexual orientation.
American ties
I had to get used to it not in the weather and not even in the country itself, but in people. The lifestyle of Americans is very different from ours. On the one hand, they are friendly - they always smile and say hello. On the other hand, I somehow don’t want to have a serious acquaintance with them. A maximum of discussing some pressing issues a couple of minutes, no more. Why? I myself can’t understand. Somehow we do not converge. You know, it’s easier and more comfortable with your own, therefore, I mainly communicate with visitors from Russia, Armenia, and Ukraine.
Of course, at first, I had big problems with the language. My English study stopped at school level. But a year later it became much easier. I began to talk more, and Russian-speaking acquaintances appeared with whom you can practice without difficulties in solving individual accents.
Firstly
In Russian education, there is no sense at all. Therefore, when I moved, I was not very upset that I would not finish university. On the contrary, it is not worth talking about the first education in order to be able to study here for free. Better to say that I just graduated from high school.
To begin with, I plan to go to a language school to tighten my tongue. In principle, apart from the profession of a doctor, everything else can be learned here in two years, get a license and already practice. But a lot depends on the university: if you graduated from a good higher education institution, where the program is more complicated, you don’t have to worry about your future. You will always find good work and earnings. One cannot be sure of this in Russia.
Education decides
I have a familiar Iranian, a nuclear physicist. After moving to the United States, he simply disappeared for five years, because he was constantly studying. After training, he was immediately taken to NASA, and now he has an excellent salary. In Moscow, you can’t even dream of such a thing. So it’s definitely worth studying here.
In general, training here is easier than ours. At the beginning of the year, you can independently choose subjects for study and not spray on unnecessary ones, then not regret wasted hours spent during classes.
Let's count
Most of my friends who moved here do not regret anything. Many of them work without movings on movings. This is something like the first stage, which almost everyone faces. For this work, not even documents are needed. There is always work in this area, and for it, you can get money for the most necessary.
Moving companies arrange transfers from one house or premises to another. Mostly wealthy people use her services. Workers get about two thousand dollars a month and somehow manage to live on this money. And this is very small, even if you rent an apartment with a neighbor.
Plus, you need to buy a car, refuel it and repair it, because without a car it is impossible here. No public transport, all move only on their own. You also need to calculate the cost of food, which is not cheap at all, especially if you cook for one.
