How to use a beeper?
It is vitally important to detect fish bites early. If we do not do it at the right time we could lose the catch and the time we have invested in it will have been in vain. Detecting a bite without using any element is quite complicated, because the sight gets tired and, after a period of time, we begin to doubt. Needless to say, this is not something impossible, of course! But neither can anyone deny that in the last hours of a day we miss more pieces than we capture.
To avoid that small inconvenience we can help with some other elements and resources such as, for example, placing a piece of wool of bright color in the line itself, so that when we see that changes in height we detect that a fish has stung. It is also possible to mark the line at a certain height to control its movement. They are simple, home-made and economic solutions but they still make us force our sight.
Another method that warns of non-sounding bites is to put "eyes" on the buoy so that when it sinks because the fish wants to take the bait, the fisherman knows that something has happened. But this, like the previous methods, means that the angler has to be focusing his attention on specific points. Even so, it is easier to identify and does not require a huge financial outlay. In any case, these solutions, although simple, we see that they require a lot of attention and overexertion of our sight. This is why there is a bite warning device. This will be the one that will indicate us that a bite has taken place, so that the fisherman himself must be fast and have a good capacity to react so as not to lose the prey but, with all that, we are not deteriorating our vision.
That is why this type of device is essential for expert fishermen who spend a great deal of time waiting for catches. The use of a bite detector is very simple. Next, we are going to explain how it works and how you can enjoy all its advantages, as it currently has two different uses.
Supporting the indicator on the surface of the water
- Using these indicators to detect a bite is interesting, although their accuracy is quite limited. They are quite bulky markers and their cast is quite complicated for the angler, as some bites tend to fail.
- They are made with putty, foam, and yarn. They are usually used in the case that the lures are heavy, as the size of these indicators is adapted to the weight of them.
- Within this classification are the springs that serve to indicate that a line is rolled. These, on the other hand, are not suitable for heavy lures and must also be greased frequently. But they have the particularity that they are more precise and therefore more interesting to use.
Without putting the indicator on top of the water
- For this particular case, we use portions of dough or yarn and a combination of sedales that have different colors. The indicator does not touch the water at any time and only serves to locate the rig at all times.
- If the indicator is stretched it is a sign that we are in front of a puncture or some object that bothers. With it, we see where the rig moves and the depth of the lures.
- There are different types of indicators classified according to different parameters. In this particular case, let's talk about the materials with which the fishing indicators are made.
Surfcasting luminous puncture indicator
- Foam or football indicator type indicators. They tend to put on and take off continuously and have the ability to float very well while having a large volume.
- Indicators of type yam or strikeout. They are made of floating fibers of synthetic material. They float perfectly since, in addition, these are treated previously with products that are repellent to the water.
- Colored threads. These are colored fishing lines that have formed springs as a guide for the rigging. They are also used as floats. They are called "Hanak bicolor or Pezon & Mitchel color", according to styles.
- Biodegradable putties or biostrike. They are very simple to prepare because you only take the necessary putty and stick to the line after giving it a little shape.
- We can also have different warnings of bites depending on their way of alerting us. These can be sonorous or luminous, and what they do is emit sounds or light at the moment they detect a bite on the hook. In this way, the fisherman knows when to intervene. But this type is not widely used because it eliminates the true essence of traditional fishing.
- Each angler has the possibility to choose the type of bite detector that best suits him taking into account several factors. For this reason, what we can conclude is that the most appropriate technique should be used in each case and, of course, always considering the experience and skills of the sportsman himself.
