Google is finally rolling out a convenient new tool for sharing Chrome tabs between devices. Cross-device tab sharing has been in Chrome Canary builds for a few months, but now appears to be available for many users in the stable desktop and mobile versions as well. We’ll show you how to enable the setting and share tabs from both desktop and mobile.
Before we begin, you’ll need to first be signed in to all devices you wish to share pages across. You should make sure Chrome is up to date on all your devices, as well. You’ll know there’s a lingering update if you see a colored alert icon in the upper-right of the browser window.
Sending tabs from desktop
1. In Chrome, highlight the URL of the page you wish to share, click the laptop icon, and select the device to send to. You can also Right-click on a website and click “send to [device].”
2. A popup will alert you that the page is being sent. After a few moments, you’ll get a notification on your other device that you can tap/click to open the page.
Sending tabs from Chrome mobile
1. Open the Chrome mobile app.
2. Tap the three stacked dots icon.
3. Tap “Share.”
4. In the share menu, tap “Send to your devices.”
5. Tap to select the device you wish to send to.
6. A notification will appear on the other device after a moment or two. Click/tap it to open the shared page.
