What is the camera setup on the Nokia 9 PureView?

Undoubtedly the headlining feature of Nokia’s latest recruit, is it’s unique five lens camera setup on the rear.

ow usually when you have a camera with multiple lenses, these all work to achieve different means, whether it’s an ultra-wide, telephoto or main. In the case of the Nokia 9 PureView; all five lenses are 12MP, with an f/1.8 aperture and a fixed focal length of 28mm. The only difference then, is that two are colour lenses, whilst the remaining three are monochrome.

This has the obvious benefit of being able to shoot in pure black and white for a more artistic feel. But further to that, monochrome sensors are actually capable of capturing up to two times more light, meaning that the Nokia 9 PureView can photograph some great shots in low light conditions.

In an industry first, all five sensors actually work in unison to deliver a single photo that is extraordinarily rich with information. All lenses shoot different exposures at the same time and composites them into one ultra-highly detailed photograph. These can then be saved in the RAW format as well as JPEG, so that you’re then free to edit every tiny detail of information as you see fit.

Alongside this, multiple lenses also mean that numerous layers can be created in an image. Indeed, the Nokia 9 PureView is allegedly able to capture more than 1200 layers of depth data for a distance of up to 40m. To put that into perspective, most smartphone cameras are capable of 10.

Rounding things off, the Nokia 9 PureView has a respectable 20MP front camera that comes fitted with an f/1.8 aperture.

Is the Nokia 9 PureView water resistant?

Keeping your device safe from leaks or spillages is essential to many of you, so you’ll be very pleased to hear that the Nokia 9 PureView comes crafted with an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. This means that the device can theoretically stay alive submerged in water for up to 1meter for 30 minutes.

An IP code refers to the level of protection that a device provides against external objects. The first number – in this case 6 – refers to the level of protection against solids such as dirt. The second number – in this case 7 – then refers to protection against moisture.

Alongside this, both the back and front of the device have been draped in Gorilla Glass 5 to help protect against those every day bumps and bruises.

Does the Nokia 9 PureView have wireless charging?

The Nokia 9 PureView comes fitted with a respectable 3,320mAh battery that should keep you going throughout the day without any real hiccups.

That said, when it is eventually time to recharge, the Nokia 9 PureView does come with that all-important support for Qi Wireless Charging.

Alongside this, if you prefer the more traditional cable, then t en the device also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0

Does the Nokia 9 PureView have a headphone jack?

It’s becoming quite a rarity for new flagship devices to come with that 3.5mm headphone jack and the Nokia 9 PureView is certainly no different.

The good news is, you don’t need to throw away those trusty 3.5mm headphones just yet. Indeed, the device actually comes packaged with a Type-C to audio adapter in the box.

So too, if you’re from the UK and order the Nokia 9 PureView from Clove before April 8th, then you’ll actually receive a free pair of Nokia True Wireless Earphones – who needs a wire anyway?!

Does the Nokia 9 PureView support NFC?

Making wireless payments through a smartphone device is becoming the norm, and the Nokia 9 PureView comes with support for NFC.

NFC is a method of wireless data transfer that enables technology within a close proximity to communicate to each other, without the need for an internet connection. NFC works within a radius of around 4cm and provides a wireless connection between your device and another.

In the case of smartphones, this is used to make contactless payments, with compatible stores allowing you to simply tap your device to pay.
