Huawei P30 Pro FAQs

Since Huawei first joined forces with Leica on the P9, the focus of Huawei smartphones has largely been on the performance of their cameras. And now, the Huawei P30 Pro is accentuating a new peak of smartphone photography with a jaw-dropping quad-lens setup.

Here’s everything you need to know.

#1: When is the Huawei P30 Pro released?

The Huawei P30 Pro was finally shown to world in Paris on the 26th of March and unveiled a whole host of industry leading features.

Fortunately, you don’t have to wait long to get your hands on one of these devices yourself, as the worldwide release of the Huawei P30 Pro is just a week away on Friday the 5th April.

Indeed, you can pre-order your Huawei P30 Pro from Clove Technology today and ensure that you’ll become one of the first to get your hands on Huawei’s latest flagship.

#2: How much is the Huawei P30 Pro?

The Huawei P30 Pro is now available to pre-order from Clove Technology, ready for dispatch on launch date of April 5th.

The device is available with 128GB of internal storage and 8GB RAM in Midnight Black, Aurora and Breathing Crystal for £899 including VAT.

Similarly, the 512GB, Amber Sunrise variant of the device is £1099 including VAT and will ship a little later on 16th April.

If that wasn’t enough; if you’re a UK customer and pre-order your device before midnight on 4th April, you’ll also be eligible to claim a FREE Sonos One (Gen2)!

#3: What is the camera setup of the Huawei P30 Pro?

The Huawei P30 Pro comes fitted with an unmatched Quad camera system, consisting of a 40MP Super Sensing Camera, a 20MP Ultra-Wide-Angle lens, an 8MP SuperZoom Lens and a Huawei TOF Camera, giving you ultimate freedom to capture those incredible moments.

The new 8MP telephoto periscope lens allows for 5x optical zoom capabilities to be tucked into a compact frame without losing image quality. This, coupled with the colour saturation of the 40MP main lens and stability of OIS, means that the SuperZoom lens offers 10x hybrid zoom. See the never-before-seen with great resolution and rich detail.

If that wasn’t enough, then the P30 Pro harnesses a SuperSpectrum sensor for more light to be captured in low light moments, whilst a real macro lens allows you to shoot in incredible detail from only 2.5cm close.

#4: Is the Huawei P30 Pro water resistant?

Keeping your device safe against leaks or spillages is essential, and the Huawei P30 Pro comes with a top of class IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

An IP rating is an international standard that refers to the level of protection that a device provides against external objects. The first number – in this case 6 – refers to the level of protection against solids such as dirt and dust.

This means that the second number refers to protection against moisture. In this case, the ‘8’ rating ensures that your device is protected from immersion in water with a depth of more than 1 meter. Whilst we wouldn’t advise taking your device for a swim, you should be more than protected from splashes and spillages.

#5: Does the Huawei P30 Pro support wireless charging?

The Huawei P30 Pro is fitted with a whopping 4200mAh battery that will get you through a day, or even two, without any real issues.

When it is time to recharge, then the Huawei P30 Pro does come with support for wireless charging, so you can ditch those leads and cables. Even better, the device actually supports wireless charging at up to an industry leading 15W, so you’re back up and running in no time!

If you do prefer more traditional charging methods, then the Huawei P30 Pro also comes with Huawei SuperCharge at 40W, allowing you to reach 70% in only half an hour.

The device also comes with support for reverse wireless charging, so that you can use your device to charge a number of compatible devices such as earbuds or another smartphone.

6: Is the Huawei P30 Pro 5G?

Despite coming crafted with a whole host of industry leading features, the Huawei P30 Pro does not come with support for 5G.

Indeed, at Huawei’s launch event in Paris, CEO Richard Yu claimed that the world wasn’t yet ready for a 5G Huawei flagship device and so this could be a few months away. Interestingly, Huawei did confirm that Huawei 5G phones would be seen in 2019, so perhaps this is something we’ll see from the next device in the Huawei Mate range.

#7: Is the Huawei P30 Pro Dual SIM?

As with most Huawei devices, the Huawei P30 Pro comes both as a Dual SIM and Single SIM variant.

The Dual SIM variant of the device is a Hybrid Dual SIM so the second SIM slot can either be used for a SIM card or to expand storage with an SD card. In the case of the Huawei P30 Pro, this can hold Huawei’s Nano Memory Card to increase memory by up to 256GB.

Here at Clove Technology, we will be selling the Single SIM UK variant with either 128GB or 512GB of internal storage.

#8: Does the Huawei P30 Pro have a fingerprint scanner?

After introducing the in-screen fingerprint scanner to the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, it’s of little surprise to see this also included within the Huawei P30 Pro.

The sensor has been streamlined though, as Huawei claim it is now 30% faster than the Mate 20 Pro but does remain optical. Optical scanners use an image sensor to capture an image of your fingertip, which is then processed to enhance quality and make it usable for fingerprint recognition algorithms.

9: Does the Huawei P30 Pro have a headphone jack?

It’s certainly becoming more of a rarity to see new flagship devices coming with that 3.5mm and the Huawei P30 Pro is no different.

But interestingly, the standard Huawei P30 DOES have a headphone jack. According to Huawei, this is because the designers wanted to create more space within the Pro model for a larger battery.
