It is known that the cost of constructing water supply wells depends not only on the efficiency of drilling equipment and tools, but to a large extent on the labor and time spent on drilling preparation, including the delivery of equipment to the place of work, the deployment of the rig, as well as on auxiliary work in the process well construction.
For this reason, when constructing wells up to 300 meters deep, production organizations prefer to use universal mobile Rigs with Rotary Heads, which have a less powerful drive than units specialized for production drilling with rotary tables, but mounted on vehicles of less weight and saturated with auxiliary equipment, such as hydraulic breakers, rod clamps, etc.
An important factor determining the choice of drilling equipment is the minimum shift number of drilling personnel. So, if it is desirable to have at least three workers as part of a shift for efficient maintenance of rotary Rigs of the URB-2.5A and BA15 type, then to perform work on Rigs with a Rotary Heads of the URB 2A2 and LBU-50-07 types, it is sufficient to have a shift of two people.
The struggle for the Russian market, which has intensified amid falling demand for drilling equipment, in which several large manufacturers of heavy-duty mobile multipurpose Rigs compete, is stimulating the Geomash companies group to expand its product range.
In 2019, as part of the development of a series of drilling rigs of the UGB type, well-known to Russian and any foreign consumers, a multi-purpose modification 587-020 was produced at the production site of Geomash-Vladimir LLC, intended primarily for constructing water supply wells up to 300 meters deep, but also for drilling exploration and special technical wells.
The new Rig, mounted on the KAMAZ-43118 all-wheel drive vehicle, along with standard equipment traditionally mounted on drilling rigs of the UGB series (a drilling winch with free fall function, a mechanism for longitudinal movement of the mast until it stops in the ground, a mast positioning mechanism for inclined drilling, hydraulic legs, work platforms and railings of the cargo platform), received a number of municipal new properties, giving it significant advantages both over competitors' products and over previous series models.
Thus, the feed stroke of the Rotary Head increased by 2 meters makes it possible to use drill and casing pipes up to 6 meters long, versus 4.7 meters in previous versions, while the feed rate of the carriage reaches 1.2 meters per second, which is combined with a complex of Clamps for drill rods and casing pipes can significantly reduce the loss of time for building up and open drilling tool strings and for well casing.
The stability of the elongated mast when drilling with a large diameter tool and positioning on soft soils is increased due to the removable supporting beam mounted under it.
With an increased feed rate, the installation received a high-torque Rotary Head with a maximum torque of 700 kgf.m and a rotational speed of up to 350 rpm, ensuring efficient drilling with both augers with a diameter of up to 300 mm and roller cone bits with a diameter of up to 490 mm, and hard-alloy rock cutting tools with a diameter of 93- 132 mm.
To transmit torque to the TBSU-85 drill pipe string while drilling and screwing / unscrewing threaded joints, a frame elevator chuck is mounted on the spindle of the Rotary Head.
Due to the combination of high torque on the Rotary Head and an increased loading capacity of the feed mechanism up to 10 tons, the new UGB modification was able to drill wells up to 300 meters deep using steel drill rods with a diameter of 85 mm.
For rotary drilling with flushing, the first sample of the UGB-587-020 model is equipped with a lightweight hydraulic piston pump NBG-50 with a capacity of up to 720 liters per minute and a working pressure of up to 6.3 MPa, designed and manufactured at the production site of the Geomash group of companies in Zheleznogorsk.
Optionally, the Rig can be equipped with screw compressor units with a capacity of up to 12 cubic meters per minute and a working pressure of up to 1.2 MPa.
In addition, the Rig includes an imported high-pressure pump for preparing drilling fluids, as well as for washing drilling equipment and tools.
It is optionally possible to supply two versions of casing tables - the hydraulic drive SOG-000, traditional for the UGB series units, or the multifunctional SOV-000, combining the casing supply with its rotation - mounted under the mast of the installation, coaxially with the spindle, and facilitating the casing of the well.
The UGB-587-020 model - a good alternative to specialized drilling rigs for constructing water supply wells and a worthy competitor to domestic analogues - seems to us a logical and timely continuation of the UGB drilling rig series.
