Current generation of children is interested and well-versed in electric transport sometimes even better than adults. The reason is simple; kids have no load of unnecessary knowledge and outdated technologies unlike adults.
At the same time last year I held the first lesson with children about the history of electric transport and its real development in different countries today. To my surprise, they are well aware of the existence of this type of transport and gladly follow its development. When traveling around the world with their parents, they began to understand the brands of electric cars and even know the approximate charging time of a particular electric car model. The children asked me a question - what kind of electric cars are manufactured and popular in Russia and I stated the fact of the only small-scale production of the electric car Lada El-Lada, then I talked exclusively about the manufacturers of this type of zero emission vehicles in other countries. The children really wanted to see the native car in reality and ride on it. Their wish came true exactly in a year!

In today's lesson with children, first of all we talked about types of electric cars they would drive, when they grow up and get a drive license. Certainly, it is likely that there will be native electric cars! Let's start with them. Lada El-Lada! As the children said, if not to say that it is electric, it is not so obvious, but they found one difference right away. When they looked under the stern of the car, they did not see the muffler, and this is the first sign of electric traction! The next difference is the complete absence of engine sound and exhaust. Under the hood, the children did not find an engine familiar to adults, just a flat stove and the quiet murmur of an electric motor that drives around the cooling fluid of the systems. Under the rear seat of the car, battery packs were shown to a young audience, and then a small practical task was taken to turn on the charging cable to the connector, which is under the fuel filler cap of ordinary cars, ordinary cars of the past would be more correct to say.
Then we proceeded to practical familiarization with the details the electric motor consists of and the drive to the wheels itself. The children were very surprised how simple everything is and they noted how few details are in the electric car, compared with the cars driven by their parents. And believe me, they are well-versed in it and even know the most frequent breakdowns and the cost of repairs, parents devote them to these subtleties … The questions they asked were more about autopilot, its efficiency, about control via mobile application. They asked who is responsible when the car is on autopilot. The children did not ask a single superfluous stupid comparative question with cars on the internal combustion engine, everything was clear and to the point. One question was very interesting - can we get a drive license to drive an electric car on autopilot at the age of 13? The question is fair.
Onwards, we started the practical part in our lesson. Mikhail showed the children in details how the electric car starts, dashboard difference, gear shift imitation, which is absent in the car, but runs in driving mode. After that, children and adults rode an electric car through the village, felt the difference in the movement of the electric car and of course recognized its indisputable advantages!
At the end of the lesson, we thanked Mikhail for an interesting practical lesson and test drive of an electric car, wished all the best to his family and invited him to our annual celebration!
