So there you are, an ancient sea lion born of absolute cuteness gliding through the sea when you suddenly spot a delicious jellyfish. Yum yum! You swallow it, but it turns out to be a plastic bag… What a bummer! Not only just a snack in lack of flavor, you will also probably die. Yeah, there was a time when humans were afraid of the sea. Today, it’s the other way around.
.
One of the greatest wonders of the sea these days is that it’s still alive. Billions of plastic bags spend their lifetimes floating in our oceans causing harm and killing wildlife. And when these bags do break down, they simply break into smaller pieces of plastic. This makes it even easier for sea lions, whales, turtles, seabirds and fish to mistake them for food and fill their stomachs with indigestible waste, which slowly starves them.
.
Is this the future you want? Big changes start with small steps and we all have the power to make a difference. Hey, I understand that going completely plastic free is challenging for most people, but we all know plastic consumption isn’t always well, necessary. Saying no to straws, buying in bulk and bringing your own reusable bags when shopping are just a few simple small steps you can take to cut down on the amount of plastic you’re consuming.
.
Remember, being a little more conscious is always in sea-son (did you sea what I did there?) (and there). What will be the first plastic thing you cut from your life?
